Help me buy some funk jams!

I'm looking to add more funk to my Ipod. woot!

Please give me recommendations. I'm particularly partial to synth funk like 1999 and stuff by the Gap Band, etc.

I've pretty much got Prince, Parliament/George Clinton and the Gap Band covered, as well as several one-off singles by artists, but I'm happy to take any recommendations.

Today I've bought the following funk/semi-funk jams:

Afrika Bambaataa- Planet Rock
Grandmaster Flash- The Message
Grandmaster Flash- White Lines
Shannon- Let the Music Play
Con Funk Shun- Chase Me
Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Outstanding!

There have been several dance music countdowns in this city, and "You Dropped A Bomb On Me" almost always comes out on top.

Hi There,

I can see that you are a beginner funk lover.

Well when I was a beginner too I would go to Amazon and type the word "old school funk" and it have some good results for you to pick and choose. They even have samples too of listening to the artists before you consider to buy.
But I suggested for you to buy "Phax Trax" and "Old School Jams" compilation first because they both have some good funk songs by various artists like Cameo, Brother's Johnson, Sun, Mass Production, and more. There is also "Old School Funk Jams" series too where it is nothing but the funk.

Davideye and Vainandy, anything you wanna share? biggrin

I'll look up those comps. thumbs up!

I do have a few funk compilations and lots of one-off singles, but funk is a genre that I consistently love, so any recommendations are well worth investigating!

Here is another good place where they have some information and list of funk songs and they are my best hangout and also they have mostly 80s funk. So feel free to bookmark and explore, take a note or two. They even have song samples.
http://www.funkishere.com and
http://www.danceclassic.com
http://www.muzi.de/nuke/h...=Downloads

I also listen to "Live 365" and also "Streamcast" (you need winamp or real player) for some funk stations. I also listen to "Iceburg.com" and they even have a funk station (you have to register but is free) and they played mostly late 70s funk.
So there are places where you can find some some funk albums and information it just you have to look deeper because they arent so out there.

I hope this helps.

hmmm... here are some great funk albums for ya:
Rick James - Come Get It & Street Songs
Ohio Players - Fire & Honey
Zapp - Zapp
Roger - The Many Facets Of Roger
Bootsy Collins - Stretchin' Out In Bootsy's Rubber Band
Sly & The Family Stone - There's A Riot Goin' On

... just off the top of my head.

Anyway, Zapp & Roger are a bit more synth-oriented/80's-sounding than the rest but I suggest you get all of these... ASAP wink
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
