Earth wind and fire "system of survival" Damn, this tune is funky in that clattery late 80's way. And its uptempo. Wonder if theres a good 12" of this? Its sooooo 80's. Love it. Its funk'd up
Anyone like it? | |

This is actually a great track!
The video is sooooo 80's though. Could be the black footloose filmshort! Ain't "The Boys" ("Dial My heart" et al) in this vid?? Never understood that line "A Plastic face on Satellite TV" though? Let's all pretend the "Heritage" album never happened though! 'dre Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

'dre U got the right tune, but wrong album, the song is off "touch the world" from 1987 "heritage" came out in 1990, and that did have a track featuring the boys (called "heritage"). I got the 12" of that somewhere. As a conasuir of late 80's-early 80's pop, i love the "heritage" album, though "touch the world" is only good for a few tracks. "heritage", as an album, in dated to the extreme. It should of come with a sticker saying "danger, the snares featured on this album might blow ur speakers up" Its so dated, kids would think its new. Horns are alot more in the foreground though, which is a good thing of course. "taking chances (no risk no gain),taking chances, (i really dont mind the pain)"

I like this song alot.Earth Wind and Fire came back hard in the fall of 1987 with this jam.It was a nice comeback for them and the 'Touch The World' album is excellent.

You should get this DVD which contains all of their music videos: It even contains rare, forgotten videos like "Fall In Love With Me" and "Magnetic".

This album always gets a bad rap,but I like most of it."Daydreamin","Good Time" (with Sly Stone),"Anything You Want","Takin Chances" and "Welcome" are good songs.Remove MC Hammer's rap from "For The Love Of You" and that song would be excellent, too.

I was linking the Heritage album to "The Boys" as they made a guest appearance on there! Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

Yeah, i remember u were the only one who owned the "heritage" album, other then myself and it seems drezone owns it too. Yeah, hammer is very tacky on "for the love of u". He does ever so slightly better on the jam "i wanna be your man", which is a track i have to play loud. Horns sound great on this track too. Love the intro. As for "touch the world", for all its naive simplicity, i do like world weary tracks like "touch the world", and it has a nice gospel vibe on it too. Also, "thinking of you" is so fun and breezy, and "victim of a modern heart" has great harmonies on the chorus. And i do like the ballad "every now and then". Very dated, buts its very sweet.

'Touch The World' is a solid album.I like it alot. It's got that late-80s "heavy synth" sound which makes it very dated-sounding,but I think it's one of their most enjoyable albums.Songs like "Victim Of The Modern Heart","Thinking Of You","Every Now And Then","Here Today and Gone Tomorrow" and "You And I" are excellent.....classic EW&F.
