Where should I go for some Sly & the Family Stone?

'There's a Riot Going On'? Stand? Fresh?

Which one is the funkiest and a good starting point for my collection? Can some Sly fox please let me know wink

I've tasted just about everything that these guys spawned, but never the chief source.

Take TAs advice, and then add their first album Whole New Thing and their third album Life. Their first 3 albums are sooo underrated

1974: Small Talk
Small Talk was the seventh album by Sly & the Family Stone, released by Epic/CBS Records in 1974. This album was the final LP to feature the original Family Stone, which broke up in January 1975. Small Talk's singles were "If It Were Left Up to Me", "Time For Livin'" (the band's final Top 40 hit), and "Loose Booty", an up-tempo funk track which uses the names of Bible characters Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego as a chant.
Besides its standard stereo release, Small Talk was also released in quadraphonic sound.
