your favourite funkadelic artwork

apart from their music, one of the things i love about them is their album covers. they all look cool and even if u didn't know it was a funkadelic record u could probably guess as they're so distinguishable from other bands. my favourite is probably maggot brain cos it looks so scary and put me of buying it at first then when i listened i understood...after that standing on the verge and one nation.

if i had to choose one, it would be one nation under a groove -- and if yall haven't seen a vinyl copy of this, you haven't really seen it.

This is my fave album cover by them as well, followed VERY closely to "Let's Take It To The Stage" with the Linda Blair scene from The Exorcist.

I use to constantly read this album inside and out

over and over, while listening to the record.

This album convince me that I need to know more about Funkadelic.

And who was this G. Clinton written over the place??hmmm

Pedro Bell , their main sleeve-artist has created freaky-collages ( like above ) of what seemed to float in Clinton's mind .
I was more hip to the work of Overton Loyd

The reason why I love this album cover sooo much is that it represents so many different things. First, I like the transformation that takes place on the baby. First u have the ghetto baby with the second hand guitar then u have the KISS/Gene Simmons/Bootsy baby with the StarChild axe!

I really do like all their covers, partial to 'Stage' and 'Kidd', but what's the story behind Funkcrinonom cover. I know it's a Bill Laswell project with almost all P-Funk alumni, not to mention Sir Hazel's last recordings..., was this suppose to be a new Funkadelic Album "proper"? I've never seen any info on this.

I don't know if it was supposed to be a Funkadelic album, although the cover makes it appear that way. The Axiom Funk logo superimposed on the Funkadelic logo looks like an afterthought.

It is a cool album, however. Laswell produced and featuring Bootsy, George Clinton, Maceo, Hazel (postumously), Mudbone Cooper, and Fred Wesly.

Sly Stone co-wrote and sings on "Tell The World," a ballad.

Bootsy sings Jimi's If Six was Nine. Here is a video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ntyOO9Z-p4Y

Herbie Hancock even makes an appearance.

Definitely a must have for the P-Funk fan. nod

Absolutely. And like you said, Axiom Funk logo is superimposed over the Funkadelic logo like it was an afterthought. I would guess it was supposed to be a Funkadelic album proper but with all the George's legalities at the time, he probably couldn't use the name. I dunno. Great album regardless.

Whatever anyone thinks about Funkcronomicon, I think, it's the closet thing to Funkadelic, in theory at least, then anything P-Funk '81 to present. Although, some of Dope Dogs, musically at least, is more Funkadelic post '81.
Ummm, Dog Star anyone?
On topic, both Funkcrinomicon and Dope Dogs artwork is Sir Lleb of Funkadelia. So can it be considered "Funkadelic Artwork"? I think so, but if not, it's close enough.
