Lennon's voice so much more suited to the song than Paul's. Why was Paul so stubborn? He should've let Lennon sing it. He knew Lennon would've done a better job. McCartney's a jerk, I've never liked him. Great songwriter, good singer, good musician, but a jerk! I was totally with you until the jerk part. When did John ever let Paul sing his songs? But I agree that Oh Darling could have very easily been a Lennon tune. I think Paul sang it really well, though. My Legacy

I like most of them, too. That's kind of why I started this thread. Beatle haters & early Beatle haters aside, there's really not that many bad songs to pick on. I don't like "The Long & Winding Road," but it's not exactly a bad song. But this thread (to me) is more about songs like that that aspire to greatness (or at least goodness) and suck, rather than something like "You Know My Name" which is just a joke. It might be easier to pick bad lines... in "The Fool On the Hill," Paul sings: "He never listens to them, he knows that they're the fools." That's all fine and good, but the next line: "They don't like him!" doesn't really add much to the equasion. My Legacy

Yeah, a lot of later classics have been targeted by name, but a couple have given the "I hate all their early music" criticism--I think they said "Yeah Yeah yeah songs" My Legacy

"Please Please Me" is one of my absolute favorites by them! It's so upbeat and catchy I just have to sing (or scream at the top of my lungs) along with it. I like to call it: The Beatles' Oral Sex Song Last night I said these words to my girl, I know you never even try, girl, C'mon... Please please me, whoa yeah, like I please you. You don't need me to show the way, love. Why do I always have to say "love," C'mon... Please please me, whoa yeah, like I please you. I don't wanna sound complainin', But you know there's always rain in my heart (in my heart). I do all the pleasin' with you, it's so hard to reason With you, whoah yeah, why do you make me blue. Last night I said these words to my girl, I know you never even try, girl, C'mon... Please please me, whoa yeah, like I please you. How do people hear these things? When they (the beatles) went to Germany they found out about these prostitution service where you were given a ticket and you had to show that ticket to the prostitute you wanted to sleep with. Anyway, it was something like that. Hence, ticket to ride. | |
