Amel Larrieux "MORNING" album, who picked it up this week?

Have been listening to it since last tuesday, I think I love it more than "Bravebird".
"No one else" is one of the best tracks I have heard this year. also "Trouble", "Gills and tail" & "answered questions"
the whole album is awesome. maybe even better than "Infinite possiblities"
here have listen, make sure u check out "no one else" its a classic as is Trouble.

First off I JUST plugged into Morning (again) and wanted to start a thread about it. You beat me to it. I like it alot. Definitely more than IP.

I particularly love the title track which reminds me alot of Wendy and Lisa.

I also love Gills & Tails, Unanswered Question, Magic, Trouble and Weary.

Actually it's starting to edge out Bravebird.

You should, have you checked out the samples at amazon? http://www.amazon.com/gp/...oding=UTF8
a bit hard to tell from 30 seconds samples. but you get the idea.

I dig it. It's growing on me but it's a very short cd. What's with 10 songs?

Yeah I was surprised/disappointed about 10 tracks too. I hate when albums are too long but is 12 preferable.

My girlfriend snatched mine before I could even listen to it! Finally got it back and I love it, (though it is too short). I can't wait to hear her perform these live. It'll be my fourth time going to see her!

Trouble and Magic are the best songs.

I think it is ok. It kinda lacks that UMPH to really make me go crazy about it though.

That's usually the vibe I get from her albums as well. Although Infinite Possibilities was her best thus far. Haven't heard her latest stuff though so we'll see if it stays that same course.

Well yall Im just getting into Amel. I ordered her INFINITE POSSIBILITIES CD last week and it just came in so Im going to pick it up now. It will probably be a while till I get into the MORNING CD since I tend to listen to artists music in the order of release. How would yall rate INFINITE POSSIBILITIES?

a whole lot better than "Bravebird" and "Morning"...i'd put in "Infitine Possiblities" or the "Groove theory" album over any of those any day...

I've listened to it a few times over and it's semi-okay. Never really rises out of just being "okay." Infinite Possibilites was much better than this album and even Bravebird was more consistent. Morning however, wasn't all that, sorry to say. There are some really cool tracks on this disc such as "Weary," "Magic" (that drum loop is crazy) and "Earn My Affections" -- the rest of it just seems listless and uninspired.

I feel Amel's problem is that she's so busy trying to give messages, she comes off as "trying-too-hard." She was stellar on 1996's Groove Theory, but her solo journey has been very self-involved and I dare say preachy. neutral

Amel, I still like ya and will check for your next record, though.

I really dont see the preachiness. Many equate a positive message with being preachy, but I dont see it that way.

I also didn't find it preachy, doesn't Trouble sound like an r&b Belle and sebastian?
