And I've been frantically checking every day for details about "The Top", "The Head On The Door" and "Kiss Me...". Those will be the best yet.

The Banshees' remasters are so delayed that if The Glove album were to be released within their schedule, the fans might not see it this decade. neutral

As far as I know, the reissued albums Join Hands, Juju, & Kaildescope are being released on May30th in Europe with a deluxe version of Juju at a later date.In related news, the 1983 Siouxsie & the Banshess gig at the Hammersmith Odeon is available now with extras. I tried looking for this yesterday at my favorite store but it wasn't there, so I may have to order it online. It got some cool extras!

The "one" has been out since last year and in Europe only. There is some sort of contract problem with Geffen which owns the U.S. rights so who knows if the Banshees remasters will ever see a domestic release. That's not really a problem in that the imports are still available, but when it comes to the 'Nocturne' DVD which is PAL and can't be played in my DVD player, then I get angry. mad

The original release date for these remasters was the end of March which got pushed back to the beginning of May which is now the end of May like you said. I'm not going to believe any release date anymore until I actually see copies in a store. The Nocturne DVD you mentioned I believe is PAL only which is useless to me. Amazon has an NTSC version listed, but again, not believing it until I see it. And why is the double disc of 'Juju' coming out after the single disc? Why can't the Banshees do things right like The Cure? Grrr.

I've e-mailed theIdealCopy webstore & they've replied that the Nocturne DVD is Region 0 NTSC standard, so there shouldn't be any problems playing them on US DVD players. smile

That's good to hear. I ordered the copy Amazon has listed, but I'm not gonna celebrate until I put it in my DVD player and it actually works.

It's times like this when I wish the Banshees had just a little bit more success. As much as I love their 'Downside Up' box set, The Cure's 'Join The Dots' box is so much nicer looking.

CD 1

Like An Animal
Looking Glass Girl
Sex Eye Make Up
Mr. Alphabet Says
A Blues In Drag
Punish Me With Kisses
This Green City
Orgy
Perfect Murder
Relax

now this is a classic album. everyone, all of you, please buy this. landray's vocals are not as bad as you've been told. they are actually quite charming if you ask me.

The Man From Nowhere (Original Instrumental Mix)

holy shit! could this be the song that appears as low-volume interludes on the original album? trippy, trippy as hell. I put together a 3 minute edit of those interludes, stringing them together as one track, and they definately seem to be all from the same song. Liner notes on current release say "interludes courtesy of the man from nowhere" so this must be that.

Mouth To Mouth (Landray Vocal Mix)

hell yeah. This b-side is one of the best Glove tracks ever. I love it.

Punish Me With Kisses (Hedges 7" Mix)

I've never heard this mix, but I'm told it's great. Mike Hedges does some good work so this should be worth it. I know quite a few folks who would call foul if this wasn't being included.

The Tightrope (Original Instrumental Mix)
Another b-side -- it couldn't be named better, this one. Sounds like it was recorded at a circus of some sort. pretty cool.

Like An Animal (12" Club?, What Club? Mix)

Classic extended mix, I actually prefer this to the LP version.

CD 2

Like An Animal (Robert Smith Vocal)
Looking Glass Girl (Robert Smith Vocal)
Sex Eye Make Up (Robert Smith Vocal)
Mr. Alphabet Says (Alternative Robert Smith Vocal)

very cool - and we get a outake version of Mr Alphabet Says too. however...

A Blues In Drag (Alternative Robert Smith Vocal)

this is an instrumental on the og album. His vocal on here better be the greatest thing I've ever heard if it wants to replace the lp version. I love it as it is.

Punish Me With Kisses (Robert Smith Vocal)
This Green City (Robert Smith Vocal)
Orgy (Robert Smith Vocal)

yeah.

Perfect Murder (Alternative Robert Smith Vocal)

I've never cared that much for this song, maybe this alternate will be better.

Relax (Alternative Robert Smith Vocal)

There's so much happening in the original instrumental that I can't imagine where the hell they'd even fit a vocal. We'll see tho.

The Man From Nowhere (Alternative Instrumental Mix)

wow, two versions of this?

Mouth To Mouth (Robert Smith Vocal)

I've wanted to hear RS sing this for years. This I can't wait for!

Opened The Box (A Waltz) (Robert Smith Vocal)

this originally appeared as an instrumental on the "like an animal" 12 inch single. Interesting to see what RS sings on what is essentially the "3/4 waltz" rhythm setting on any electronic keyboard back in 1982. I'm SO going to drop some acid when I get this set. I haven't in about 10 years.

The Tightrope (Robert Smith Vocal)

I'm really starting to wonder if this tracklist is correct. A vocal on the Tightrope? hmmm. I'm REALLY interested in this set now...

And All Around The Mermaids Sang (AKA Torment) (Robert Smith Vocal)

I have this instrumental, and it's dying to have some vocals on it. Reminds me a lot of La Ment.

Holiday 80 (AKA Mine Eye Offends Me (Instrumental)

With vocals on nearly everything else on this set, I can't say I'm all that enthused about this one. We'll see tho.

The only beef I think I have with this set, and it's a minor one, is the slotting in of "The Man From Nowhere" and "Punish.. 7 inch mix" where they are. The original CD had the 9 LP tracks, and then "mouth to mouth" "the Tightrope" and "like an animal (what club)" in that order, and they are even segued in such a way that they 'feel' like they are part of the album proper ... It's going to be odd to hear the end of disc one the way it's listed here. No real issue tho. Also looking VERY MUCH forward to the Nocturne DVD.
Keep your headphones on.
