Erykah...is everyone over her?

...besides Rhondab and me?

Just wonderin. When her next album (FINALLY) drops...will it do well or has her heyday come and gone? I know some people consider Mama's Gun a flop, but "Bag Lady" was a HUGE hit and then "Love of My Life" got her back in good graces with radio, reaching even the POP top 10 (technically her biggest hit)...but that was in 2002. WWU is considered a definite flop since it only went gold, but then there was almost ZERO promotion. so what does everyone think?

What do you mean over her? Like don't care anymore?

I know I do and I love how threads about her continue to pop every now and then as if trying to keep her from the forgotten pile until the next release.

Why do the good ones seem to take so long? Or does it just seem that way…

Listened to Common's 'Electric Circus' again a few days back, I think her best album is still to come, will it be a 'comeback'? Probably not, but I couldn't care less. She's like Bjork in a soulfull dress.

I love her. She isn't expected to perform sales-wise like a pop artist. I'm sure she's cookin' up somethin.

Badu has that special thing about her. She'll always get love.

I enjoyed her and Jill in "Chapelle's Block Party."

Badu rocks. Had me at: "Y'all feel dat?" I used to think her "schtick" was pretentious.

Now, I get it.

Sista already got my money, on the next joint. She's in that kind of exclusive musical artist club for me:

Prince
Badu
Neil Finn
Girl Bros.
Wonder
Marcus Miller

And, um, RhondaB digs her. redface

I hope she comes back with some strong shit. Her best album to me was her live joint. You got to see all her facets and her give and take with the crowd was great. Plus you got the uncut version of Tyrone! She still have one of the prettiest faces you'll ever see (Those eyes! Those lips!) and now she's startin' spread out a bit with them hips and now she got a little junk in her trunk, so it's all good! wink

I loved WWU. Play it lots still.

Lot of these artists got hyped too soon, hailed as the new Marvin's coming. D'Angelo, Maxwell, Erykah, Lauren Hill.

But marvin got Marvin cuz he had a career. Let all of these peeps have a career, y'all. Beauty will spring from people you cherish.

People make mistakes. It is hard, being propelled into the view of an audience that puts you on a pedestal, but just as hard shoves you off it when you don't do as they expect. It's a weird world, being famous. The mistakes you make are judged harsher. It's publisiced. People you do not know have an opinion about you.

And especially being famous in the US must be screwed up; the image the US audience gets pushed onto them from such a young age certainly seems to make being famous harder. It makes young famous girls go anorexic, makes young rap stars think it's okay to advocate that all women are ho's, etc.
