WHAAAAAT!?!?!?! Lena's rockin' back and forth as she sang "Believe in Yourself" WAS THE STANDOUT OF THE FILM! Didn't you see her rockin' and groovin' as she sang! Gave me the spirit, dammit! Martin would be like Nispey Russell, Nipsey's singing wasn't too hot but he played it off though. "Slide some oil to me" was the song Nispey performed by himself. If you call that singing..hurry get me a record deal now!!!!! I have a nice voice though. Yeah, but nobody wants to see Bizzy. LOL! Lets try to maintain a level of perspective here...compared to Ross, Cara and Mills were nobodies. Sure they had a nitch market but nationally, they were nobodies. Sure a few years later Cara would garner a lil bit of stardom but never anything that would make her bankable or open a film.. and keep your "stick around and learn something" 'tude to yourself please.... chock full of funny shit!

Bizzy would be perfect he wouldn't have to really act because staying up on his two feet is hard for him to do now days and plus he scares me. What a waste of talent I guess this is his new video. I hope he really understand. http://youtube.com/watch?...zzy%20bone Desiigner "Panda" LES TWINS x YAK FILMS | Laurent ft Skitzo & Boom Squad Inglewood (part 1)

I'm really surprised that nobody has suggested Beyonce to play Dorothy...considering that she is a Diana Ross knock-off anyway. Sorry Beyonce fans, but she is; the majority of her career is like she's driving down Diana Ross Blvd. I like Alicia Keys as Dorothy and Lauryn Hill too, but I would lean more towards Lauryn Hill. Her "Sister Act 2" role is what cements if for me. Dave Chappelle would be a good wizard, because the Wiz is the only character in the movie that doesn't sing - in the Play yes, movie not so much. I also think Patti LaBelle would make a better Evilene than Glinda the Good Witch...Evilene had more pizzazz and sass and I actually liked her better than Glinda. Don't get me wrong, I love Lena Horne, but the heavy breathing intermissions in "Believe In Yourself" kinda weirded me out . I liked Miss One better than Glinda also. Someone really should send this idea to Hollywood or even Prince. Didn't he do a Wizard of Oz themed party a couple months ago? Man, he should be the Wiz....hmmmm, on second thought, no. I always experienced it as a deep gospel-kinda thing .... a place were their roots goes sometimes , which is not always clear to explain . At least that's my impression . It also was the first time that i heard a different kinda American speaking-accent , as a European . Lena's voice seems to sound from the South . . . . [Edited 5/6/06 11:43am]

whatsgoingon said: This film has become almost like a cult film, considering at the time of it's release it was savaged by the critics.
I've always felt what spoilt the film was Diana Ross protrayal has Dorothy. Even though Stephanie Mills was not as well known as Diana at the time she wasn't exactly a nobody either and she should have taken the role. What spoilt the film is that it's at least half an hour too long. It loses pace after the first 40 minutes or so. One ruthless, no nonsense editor could have really whipped this into the classic it had the potential to be. Still, I enjoy it in a kitsch way even now.

Yeah, I KINDA liked it. However, let's leave it alone, mmmkay? We don't need another remake. Wasn't Ashanti shitting all over the Wizard Of OZ and dragging the Muppets down with her enough? • Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.
