This thread makes me want to pick up some Kylie to understand what the deal is with her. I just don't know where to start. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

J'adore Madonna. J'adore Confessions, and it's place alongside Ray of Light and American Life as the Trifecta of the Madonna of the New Millennia. I've never had the slightest interest in Kylie or anything she's done. Ergo, I have no business commenting on what she has or hasn't done. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

Hits+ is the most range of Kylie as an Artist Light Years, Fever, Body Language are probably her most solid Impossible Princess is the best for the track Dreams alone Ultimate Kylie is great but it leaves off some great tracks. You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

i like kylie. i like madonna.
kylie has been doing madonna for years. i don't think confessions sounds like a kylie record but if it did, kylie owes madonna by this point anyway so its all good. in my opinion, though, madonna has been doing dance music since the beginning. she's done all sorts of styles of dance music. she lives in the uk now so it only makes sense that she would make a record that epitomizes europop. to me it still sounds like madonna. i listen to both ladies and i've never thought of kylie while listening to confession.

You know better than that Uh uh, Jay; let's NOT turn this into a Madonna vs. Janet thread And yes, she has; and yes, I think they're real distracting and shitty, too. The advantage of this is that DavidEye can no longer bitch about Janet's sampling, since Madge sampled more on this record than Janet has on her last two Since you didn't buy 'Confessions',I guess you didn't see the credits. The album only has ONE sample, and it can be found on "Hung Up".A Janet album has waaaayyyyy more samples than COADF.I recently heard that her upcoming single will sample Sheila E's "The Glamorous Life".

No you're not. I think Kylie's Body Language is her most UNDERrated album. Six songs does it for me: Slow Still Standing Promises Sweet Music Red Blooded Woman Chocolate

And her non-dance extravaganzas are a hell of a lot better than Confessions, which is the first Madonna record I did not purchase. A lot of Madonna fans on the org tend to dislike Kylie, but some (like myself and ehuffsd and MikeMatronik) represent. I'm not afraid to say that Fever and Body Language trump COAD, and that Goldfrapp's Supernature trumps them all. [Edited 4/26/06 14:09pm] I agree.I still listen to "Body Language" once a week.If anything,Madonna is chasing Kylie.Madonna will do anything so stay relevant. Madonna would have never done a song like Caught Up without knowing anything about Kylie's I Believe In You.

What ARE you talking about, David? Future Lovers samples I Feel Love Sorry samples the Jacksons Can You Feel It on the chorus Get Together swipes certain segments from Stardust's Music Sounds Better With You If she paid enough not to have them credited, OK, but she sure must have done a real number on you, a Donna Summer/early 80's fan, not to notice the obvious. Donna Summer even said she was getting cash out of this deal, so she was happy Madonna decided to sample her song. You don't remember this? Guess not. You posted it months ago. And no, Janet's new single does NOT sample the Sheila E. song. [Edited 4/27/06 8:13am]

Donna Summer didn't get paid for "Future Lovers". When the interviewer brought up the false information that Madonna was sampling "I Feel Love", Donna said she hopes Madonna makes alot of money with the song, not that she herself was getting paid. "Future Lovers" doesn't sample "I Feel Love". A sample is when music is lifted directly from one track and placed onto another. So, as Daideye said, "Hung Up" is the only song that contains a sample on Confessions On A Dancefloor.

But this is NOT stealing, it's influencing. Gotcha From now on, we won't call this sort of thing a sample, we'll call it a hommadge. [Edited 4/27/06 11:40am]

NO. Certainly not. I've been playing tracks from Body Language once a week since it was released. I've never done that with any Kylie album before. Light Years is my favourite album, but I honestly can't grasp what people are seeing as weak filler on Body Language. 'I Feel For You' is the only one I skip, but I still like it.
