On my way to lunch today, I heard Madonna's "Everybody" and that really re-itterates that without Madonna, there would be no Kylie. There were so many wonderful pop songs off the Madonna album so to say Madonna has not gone this direction would be a false statement. It's just that Kylie has been doing this for a considerable amount of time and Madonna is basically saying been there done that, gonna do it again

I still feel that this is the album Kylie has never made. But then again I have not heard most of these albums in their entirety. The only one I've heard is Body Language and I definitely agree there is some filler on there nod

lol I like Body Language better than anything Madonna has done this decade- by far.

Yeah- who would have known?

She's had like 20 B-sides from the last 3 studio albums alone!

Have you ever tried to make sense of them through a compilation mix or do you kinda just drag em out one by one?

I've made extended versions of her post-94 albums including the B-sides. It's quite fun.

Ok....how do you Kylie whores feel about Dani? Does she feel like an accomplished artist or do you feel she is riding Kylie's coattails?

Danni is fun, but she's no Kylie! lol

Neon Nights is really her only decent record.

Absolutely. I'm afraid Neon Nights is a fluke, as 95% of her other material is quite bad. That said, Dannii is a fun distraction, even if her career wouldn't really exist without Kylie, in spite of her original "Young Talent Time" fame.

love me some Dannii. correct spelling is with two i's.

Girl is great trancish type of album, but is currently out of print and hard to find. Neon Nights should have been what Kylie did after Fever IMHO. Some of the tracks that followed You Won't Forget About Me and Perfection weren't as good as Neon Nights but were still great. Her latest two So Under Pressure and I Can't Sleep At Night are fantastic. Her first two albums i'd just stick to the singles.

Dannii is little more raunchy in her performances, and not as mainstream. i think she tends to cover the people in the dance community that think Kylie and Madonna are too mainstream.

You thought "Perfection" was great? I thought that song was pretty bad with the whole awkward "Boy, you know, you're so perFECT" and the silly video. "So Under Pressure" is indeed better, but I can't find a HQ version of "I Can't Sleep At Night" anywhere!

Well, Kylie has released 3 top notch albums this decade for me- Light Years, Fever and Body Language, in addition to bonus goodies from Ultimate Kylie and all the B-sides. Other contenders would be:

Björk- my favorite album from this decade is Vespertine- hands down. I like Medúlla and Selmasongsa lot too, but Drawing Restraint 9 isn't as good.

The Cure- BloodFlowers is my second favorite album from this decade, but I didn't like The Cure as much, although it's still quite decent.

Prince- 3121 and One Nite Alone are solid albums, but the rest aren't the best, so he loses out.

Madonna- I love American Life and Confessions, but am completely ambivalent about Music. Plus, Fever and Body Language trump everything Madge has done this decade.

The Strokes- I love all 3 of their albums from this decade, but not as much as the Kylie triumvirate.

Missy Elliott- Miss E... is absolutely fantastic, and I love This Is Not a Test as well, but the other 2 don't thrill me as much.

The following artists have released some fantastic material this decade, but not ENOUGH to take out Kylie:

David Bowie
Annie
Franz Ferdinand
Gorillaz
Arcade Fire
LCD Soundsystem
N.E.R.D.
RES

An orger made a great collection called "B-sides" about a year ago, and posted artwork and tracklisting and everything biggrin

some orgers are excellent with that shit lol

It was me! biggrin

I archived the contents of my hard drive onto about 50 CD Roms before it exploded, soon after. I'll have to try and find it this weekend. I have to get ready for work right now.

Honestly, her B-Sides and bonus tracks are better than most other pop-tarts' singles.

My favourites are Harmony, City Games and Ocean Blue.

Since you didn't buy 'Confessions',I guess you didn't see the credits. The album only has ONE sample, and it can be found on "Hung Up".A Janet album has waaaayyyyy more samples than COADF.I recently heard that her upcoming single will sample Sheila E's "The Glamorous Life".

What ARE you talking about, David? confused

Future Lovers samples I Feel Love
Sorry samples the Jacksons Can You Feel It on the chorus
Get Together swipes certain segments from Stardust's Music Sounds Better With You

If she paid enough not to have them credited, OK, but she sure must have done a real number on you, a Donna Summer/early 80's fan, not to notice the obvious. Donna Summer even said she was getting cash out of this deal, so she was happy Madonna decided to sample her song. You don't remember this? Guess not. You posted it months ago.

And no, Janet's new single does NOT sample the Sheila E. song.

Before COADF came out, there was alot of speculation that it was be filled with samples. But the only song that features a sample is "Hung Up".There are NO other samples on the album."Future Lovers" was influenced by Donna's "I Feel Love",but play both songs back to back and listen really closely....it is not a sample. We discussed this at length on a Donna Summer forum.

I'm sorry, I still think they sound the same, but this is clearly just a difference of opinion. I think there's a lot of influence on the record, but we'll leave it at that wink Friends? smile
