World Class Wrecking Crew

Or something like that.

I was listening to some old hip hop song (by Luke) dissing Dr. Dre for being part of this group. Who are they what songs do they have that are noteworthy?

oh man, world class wrecking crew is a group that dr. dre was in before he became really successful. they were like an old skool electro hip hop group. dr. dre even wore make up in some of their photos. they had almost a new wave wibe about them.

Very true. I hate the work that Dr. Dre did afterwards but I love some of the World Class Wrecking Crew stuff. It's totally different than what he later became. Jams like "The Fly" and "Bionic" are very uptempo dance floor jams made from scratch, not samples.

I love that electrofunk type of music from the 80s like egyptian lover, jonzun crew, neucleus, planet patrol, la dream team, pretty tony, and more. even Midnight Star had some good electro joints with Electricity and Operator. too bad it was short-lived.

Get your ass to the record store right now and start looking! lol Those are definately some slammin' groups.

Pretty Tony made 12 Inches own his own and also with his group Freestyle. These are some of their jams:

Freestyle:

The Party Has Begun
Freestyle Express
Don't Stop The Rock
Automatic
In Your Face

Pretty Tony:

Jam The Box
Fix It In The Mix

Pretty Tony also had a protegee called Trinere who had such jams as:

I'll Be All You Ever Need
How Can We Be Wrong
All Night
They're Playing Our Song

LA Dream Team:

Dream Team Is In The House
Rockberry Jam
And The Orchestra Plays
Calling On The Dream Team
She Only Rocks And Rolls

The Jonzun Crew:

Pack Jam
Space Is The Place
We Are The Jonzun Crew
Space Cowboy
Ground Control
Time Is Running Out

Also look for 12 Inches from the following groups:

Newcleus
Twilight 22
Soul Sonic Force
Planet Patrol
P Crew
Garrett's Crew
Dynamic Breakers
BOSE
Project Future
Warp 9

This is an excellent compilation, Volumes 1 - 4.....

Trinere has that same sound as Pretty Tony and Freestyle except their vocals are done with an electronic voice.

The Jonzun Crew is on Tommy Boy Records, the same label as Planet Patrol. They have a very outer space sound like Planet Patrol and Soul Sonic Force. Maurice Starr from the group worked with New Edition on their first album and later New Kids On The Block.

The Cabbage Patch wasn't a popular song? They created that dance right? I have the mp3 of the song I don't think anyone cares enough for me to upload it. Fun raps.

maurice starr was in jonzun crew? wow! you learn somink new every day. one thing i noticed about planet patrol is that themusic sounds exactly like planet rock by afrika bambaataa just with different vocals. what's that about? i have teh trinere GH but never listen to it as i wasn't moved but i'll give it another go.

Great list of songs, this really takes me back. I have all the Street Jams cd's and I love them. The 80's were a great time for music.
I remember seeing Trinere in concert back in the day and also getting to meet her after the show.
