Rapper Mystikal Accused of Rape
Thu Jul 18, 8:26 PM ET

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Top-selling rapper Mystikal and two other men were jailed Thursday on charges they raped an acquaintance at his house.

Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, surrendered to authorities early Thursday and was booked on an aggravated rape charge, police said.

Leland Ellis, 36, and Vercy Carter, 34, of Baton Rouge, turned themselves in and were booked later that morning, police said.

Tyler was released Thursday afternoon on $250,000 bond. Bond had not been set Thursday evening for either Ellis or Carter.

All three were also charged with extortion. Authorities say they threatened to tell police that the woman had received checks from the rapper's account without his permission. The extortion charge accuses Tyler of demanding sex in exchange for his agreement not to turn the woman over to police.

If convicted of the aggravated rape charge, Tyler would face a mandatory life sentence. The penalty for extortion carries a prison term of one to 15 years.

Tyler's attorneys did not return calls seeking comment, nor did his record company, Jive.

His hits include "Danger (Been So Long)" and the Grammy-nominated "Shake Ya ..." The gruff-sounding rapper's latest disc, "Tarantula," has gone gold.

Tyler is accused of attacking the 40-year-old woman after she showed up at his house around 8 p.m. on July 3.

He allegedly threatened to tell police that she had accepted a check written out to her on his checking account, even though she knew he had not approved it, said Cpl. Mary Ann Godawa, a police spokeswoman.

He also threatened to hurt her and made her perform oral sex on him, according to a police statement. Tyler allegedly called two men over to his house, and when they showed up, according to police, he raped the woman in front of them, then each of the others raped her, making the same threats Tyler had made.

"During the attacks, the victim was repeatedly threatened with prosecution of the checks and great bodily harm. The victim was allowed to leave the residence after the attacks. She was treated and released at a local hospital," a police statement said.

WTF??? These rappers need to get their act together. They involve themselves in situations that they should know better not ever getting themselves into. They need to clean their act, otherwise, they'll always keep on guessing why they never beat the rap. This is very, very saddening.

What do you really expect from these chauvinist pigs anyway? Ever seen their videos? I'm sure these are the cuts the director put out, shouldn't be hard to imagine what the artists' versions would have been like.

I say, fuck the whole "hip-hop forever" community for all that it stands for and sell our children some brains.

Sounds a Bit Racist to Me? you should be Madd at the Major Record Companys that Promote it?remember nobody knows any of these Acts without a Big Business Pushing the Money? unless you get a Charlton Heston coming out like He did on Ice T.&Body Count for the Song "Cop Killer" the Majors are going about things as Business as usual. The artists themselves are told what to Sell in many a Case.

Cops: Mystikal Rape Caught on Camera
Mon Jul 22, 5:20 PM ET
By Josh Grossberg

You'd think Mystikal would have learned a thing or two about the pitfalls of home video from the now infamous R. Kelly case.

Apparently not, because it looks like the rapper is involved in another case of too-candid camera.

The chart-topping hip-hopster is facing possible life imprisonment after being arrested on rape charges last week in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Now, police there say that Mystikal's alleged victim, a 40-year-old hair stylist that worked for the rap star, tipped them off to the existence of a videotape that purportedly shows Mystikal and two men sexually assaulting the woman after accusing her of stealing his money.

Baton Rouge Police Department spokeswoman Mary Ann Godawa says the tape, found in the performer's apartment and since entered into evidence, confirms the allegations against Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler.

The rape, which authorities say occurred July 3 at Mystikal's residence, resulted in his arrest last Thursday with 36-year-old Leland Ellis and 34-year-old Vercy Carter. All three men were booked on charges of aggravated rape and extortion after threatening to turn the unidentified woman over to police for an alleged "check-writing scam," if she didn't perform sexual favors for them in return.

Mystikal, a Grammy nominee for his funkified booty anthem " Shake Ya Ass," was later released on $250,000 bail and has denied all the charges against him, as have his lawyers.

"I am extremely confident that he will be exonerated of all charges that are currently pending against him," said attorney Michael Guy in a statement.

Bail had yet to be set for the other two men.

According to the arrest warrant, the victim stopped by Mystikal's house to braid his hair. Once she arrived, he accused her of stealing money by cashing unauthorized checks written by one of his associates who had access to the rapper's accounts. When he commanded her to "get into the bedroom and take your clothes off," the report says the woman felt afraid and did as ordered. He then allegedly forced her to perform oral sex on him.

It was at that point, that Mystikal called Ellis and Carter over to the house and, police say, made Ellis get the camcorder and record the rapper having intercourse with the woman. The warrant also says the rapper continued to assault her after the camera was turned off. Then, the camera was supposedly turned back on while Ellis and Carter took turns raping the woman.

The victim reported the attack to police on July 4. A subsequent search turned up a safe containing the incriminating footage.

Gary Harvey, another of Mystikal's attorneys, showed detectives an affidavit dated July 4 and signed by the woman saying she had consensual sex with the three men.

However, according to the police report, the woman told investigators six days later that Harvey deceived her into thinking "the case had been jeopardized, therefore making her feel compelled to sign the affidavit," and that she still wanted to go forward with the charges.

Mystikal and cohorts are facing a life sentence if convicted of the aggravated rape charge. The extortion count carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

Despite the arrest, reps for the rapper say his concert appearances for July and August will go on as scheduled.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in August.

In both cases, it's a situation of the men being so turned on by the degrading things they were doing to the women sexually that they wanted to watch it again and again and again. And, of course, show it to their friends. I mean, he called some friends over to watch him and then rape her themselves, so of course he's gonna show that tape off to his other acquaintances in order to brag of his "manliness". rolleyes That, to me, is the issue with the videotaping. Yeah, he and R Kelly and countless others are "stupid", but they're also sick to not only do what they did, but to want to watch it repeatedly and get off on it.

Ok now I can understand the Mystical situation with him raping a woman. He forced himself on her(if this is in fact true). But the R Kelly situation...come on now, those women consenting to doing those FREAKY things with him. R Kelly does need help, but more than likely those women consented to having sex with him. Now I can understand the seriousness of what he did to that minor, but all of those other three women should have known better. What happened women respecting themselves as to not allow themselves to be treated in such a degrading manner? Whatever happened to accountablity? I've only seen a couple of orgers come with this viewpoint and it is not right. R-Kelly was wrong for what he did...but what would have been wrong with those women saying..."NO NO...I don't care how much money or fame you have...we're not going to allow ourselves to be treated like this". Rememeber we must be held accountable for our actions..especially if you're going to call yourself an adult.

I have a question for everyone...

How many of you STILL have your copy of the R.Kelly tape?

Be honest! smile

You know we're supposed to get rid of it because it is a *CRIME* to possess kiddie pornography. But how many of you are having trouble getting rid of it?

I watched it once, and haven't seen it since. But I'm not yet ready to destroy the tape.

How many of you would watch the Mystical tape if you had a copy? Keep in mind that the video shows a *CRIME* being committed.

I don't think the issue is with the women who, in fact, consented 2 have sex with him (regardless of the "type" of sex he was offering). The issue is not the consenting adult, it's the minors he's taking advantage of.

All of the women in question, however, r the ones who get caught in the whole trip of fucking a superstar...that's their problem. The fact that he took advantage of his stardom 2 fuck minors is everyone's problem, and is currently being addressed in our courts...

...and regarding Mystikal...what a dumb mother-fucker!

I loved his shit "Shake Yo Ass!" and his work on "Stutter" with Joe. He was one of the rappers who's voice I thought was interesting...rough and 2 the point.

These guys who think they r above the law, who blatantly abuse their positions in society r morons, and that includes white, black, puerto rican, mexican, chinese, japanese...etc, etc...plain and simple.

If a picture speaks a thousand words...he's got a dictionary of trouble with this video!

Exactly...I stated in my post that what he did to that minor was serious. It was shameful and dehumanizing(yes he should be dealt with through the legal system). I know what he is in trouble for. I was simply saying that a lot of times the male counterpart is often under the spotlight sort to speak. If there haven't been a minor and the tape surface, people probably would have still been saying ..."look at him on that tape with those women...pervert" and not even consider the fact that those women agreed to some "12 PLAY"

Just like people complain and moan about women being half-naked in hip-hop videos. Nobody has a gun up to these women head making them strip down for these videos. Feel me???

Mystikal is an idiot. Raping his hair stylist, then calling his buddies over to the crib so they could rape her, too. They all tape themselves assaulting this poor woman who went to Mr. Rap Star's house to do his hair. He deserves to get some jail time, not just a slap on the wrist and a fine.

Actually, I don't recall anyone here on the R Kelly threads having a problem with him having sex with the adult women. The only thing anyone would've thought of him was that he's a freak for wanting to pee in someone's mouth and get off on it. It's the issue of the young girl and always has been.

Of course the half-naked women in videos (or the all naked women in Playboy, etc., for that matter) didn't have a gun held to their heads. But it obviously goes deeper than that. Why do they do it? Because some women have always used sex to get power, and power usually lies with men. They are usually either not intelligent or talented enough or just too plain lazy to get it themselves on their own. They like the attention from powerful, rich men and so they shake their asses.

The way to stop that? Should we stop that? Education and opportunities and valuing women for what they are instead of what they look like or how good of a sex partner they are.

Just another one of my "opinions" wink
