Good link; nice to know there are people out there with common sense and the kind of humour we as Powder Snuff Girls have come to appreciate...

MAN!
That list has to be a joke. not funny though. I guess its been compiled by some intellectuals who wont listen to any album which anyone has ever acclaimed. Its really not funny. Flaming Lips: Soft Bulletin, one of the finest albums of 90's! And so many more... The list is Pure Shit. ********************************************

Have you read some of the stuff I've written on this site or did you surmise my personality from that one sentence? "Loyal" I'll buy, but the rest you may want to re-think. Anyhow, I sent that critic an e-mail: Sooo... Exactly what DO you like, or do you simply get off and, perhaps earn a living of some kind, by skewering every single thing that enough people have discovered to make "popular"? Just because the rest of the world found out about something does not render it "uncool" (whatever T.F. that means), a common trap in music criticism and enjoyment that will ultimately render you a bad caricature of Jack Black's character in "High Fidelity". In other words: too cool for any room you're in with tastes so "developed" and selective that only you, and maybe 4 other dudes (all of your friends, no doubt), will have ever heard of - but that's what makes you "cool", right? Knowing about stuff before anybody else does and has the chance to AGREE with your "discovery". I get the sense that your taste is based almost exclusively around...well...exclusivity. YOU'RE the guy at the party who always has to control the CD player, aren't you? Fun read though, I have to admit, and at least you seem educated and well informed. "Combat Rock" left my shelf years ago. I'd love to hear your "other" top 100 - the list of CD's that should replace the ones we should toss...and BTW, I agreed with a lot of your selections. H

Endorhin74 said I truly feel sorry for anyone who could call Radiohead boring. They show more creativity in one E.P. than most bands show in their whole career. As for being ultra-rich, I doubt that too. By the price of their last tour, I coulda seen them 4 times for what I'd pay to see Prince ONCE for One Nite Alone. At least they're 'doin the work' for their money...
Radiohead creative? Are you out of your mind? I suppose if making tedious pink-floyd-ish headache inducing dross counts as being creative, then yeah... But seriously, Radiohead are the most ghastly, overarted bunch of 'oh so high minded and serious' art wanking tossers this side of, god - is anyone worse than them? I'd rather listen to Bruce Springsteen for fucks sake! Amnesiac was pure dog vomit. Lord that was awful. And that voice? I'd run a thousand miles... to avoid it. 'I'm a creep...' Oh, are you? And you want me to pay you for this information? If there's one thing I can't stand it's a rich white rock star droning on about how much life sucks. But hey - if it works for you, fantastic. It's just my opinion! As I write this I'm listening to Beethoven Sonata No. 14 op. 27/2, Pletnev. Now that's what I call music!

I thought this site was pretty entertaining, as I didn't take it too seriously/personally like you sensitive souls on the 'org. What was funny to me was that I had a lot of those records and was forced to sell them after a few years of trying to convince myself they weren't embarassing.
But you should still make yourself listen to 'the Sprawl' by Sonic Youth - even though I haven't in at least 8 years, I sure do remember it being really cool in high school... The Flaming Lips: that first song is so amazing, but yes the voice does wear thin by track 4 or 5. The Replacements' 'Tim' ('85) sure as hell was no 'Let It Be' ('84) Oasis ~ Morning Glory - it's still good! I'm not kidding! I'm also glad they forgot to include Mazzy Star - that might've actually made me feel foolish

"John Coltrane - Giant Steps
Most jazz created after the Big Band era is essentially musical masturbation (and like masturbation, if you must do it, you should do it in private!). It's self-indulgent noodling interesting only to the person playing it, a few fetishists, and lots of psuedo-intellectuals and wannabe hipsters who have to pretend to like it because it's "cool." Like porno, it's dismissive of and degrading to both the performer and the viewer. People who watch porno do so alone for a reason... it's embarrassing. Some pornos are glossier and prettier than others, and Coltrane may be the John Holmes of jazz, but porno is still porno, and Giant Steps is still a tedious, embarrassing, snoozer of an album." this paragraph simply disqualifies the author of this list to any opinion. criticizm is one thing, but this shows me that the guy has no sense and idea of music at all. "giant steps" is one of tranes early masterpieces and "naima" is his personal favorite and definetely one of his best tunes ever. this comment is close to blasphemy. it gives me a headache "Peace and Benz -- The future, made in Germany"

btw... radiohead were not rich when they made Creep. Which is by far the worst song they've made. ANd I do the band. Absolute nonsense. I never said there was anything wrong with liking Radiohead. Personally I just think its overrated rubbish. Endorphin74 seemed personally offended that anyone could diss his/her personal heroes. I just thought I'd explain why I hate them. "Won't listen to anything popular"? I like Celine Dion for Christ's sake!! My all-time favourite band is Abba. How much more anti-elitist can you get? The elitists here are the Radiohead liking twats (all this in jest - o.k., just in case some of you are Americans).

This list is ludicrous. I'm guessing the author wanted to come off as controversial, including albums such as "Nevermind," "The Joshua Tree" and "Sgt. Pepper." However, to me it only comes off as an attempt to pass off his opinion as fact. I'll keep my "Emancipation," thank you!

Since that was their very first single off of their debut album I hardly think they were rich white rock stars complaining about how much life sucks. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Trust me, it takes a lot to offend me. I own all 3 (yes they have 3) Spice Girls CDs, and really enjoyed the last one. My musical tastes are very psychotic and always the subject of ridicule... PS...i'm a 'his' PPS...the world will be a much better place when they rio-lize that i'm always right...and when they SPICE UP THEIR LIFE!! (sooo much coffee, so little to do...)
