Speed Racer - the movie? I don't know where to put this since GD is dead and it has nothing to do with Prince (unless he could do the soundtrack) OR music, but:
With all the remakes they're doing, the comic book/cartoon movie craze and the fascination with everything retro... ...How COOL would a live action Speed Racer movie be? Just thinking about the car designs and stunt scenes makes me smile. "ChimChimsRevenge"'s avatar got me to thinking about it. | |

Richard Donner, who directed the Lethal Weapon films and the original Superman, had the rights to this project in the early 90's when Speed had made a resurgence on MTV. at the time Johnny Depp was rumored to be the main choice for Speed and Nicholas Cage as Racer X, but obviously it never happened.

bah a Speed Racer movie would suck, IMHO
I dont see what was so great about this series. He always won the race (where most of the other racers are dead and a lot fall into cliffs) and the stories seemed so repetitive,. And how many gadgets does his car have? Its like some new gizmo every episode. by the way, in case anyone's interested, an undisclosed movie company recently bought the rights to make a live version of Tranformers. I hope they dont fuck it up | |
