ZAPP, were they prince fans? I Bought Zapp's IV album today and i noticed that there are a couple of references regarding prince.
one song has a sampled "ow-wa" of his, another song "Itchin' for you Twitchin'" has a girl singing 'Irresistable Itch' several times in the same style as Irresistable Bitch. Anyone else noticed this??

On their 1984 song "Doesn't Really Matter",Roger mentions Prince. The song is a tribute to soul music and Roger sings...
"now we have the Minneapolis connection.....thank you Prince, cause you sound so good to me"

ZAPP used to do shows with Prince back in the day. "D.M.S.R" is kind of a clone of "More Bounce". But both are still great. Roger Troutman said he had nothing but respect for Prince.

These ZAPProtegees ( among the late StingRay Davis and keyboardist Dale Degroat ) recorded the Prince-esque " Can We Touch " in 1985 .

"now we have the Minneapolis connection.....thank you Prince, cause you sound so good to me" That's the perfect answer right there. But good thread and I understand the question. The first time I saw Zapp in concert was when they opened for Prince on his Controversy tour. Check out Zapp's song "Itchin' For Your Twitch". That to me, is the most love Zapp had ever shown for P. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him." http://ccoshea19.googlepa...ssanctuary http://ccoshea19.googlepages.com

(well I still do ) ..I remember hearing it first back in the days.. yep, a definitve shot at the Prince/Minneapolis sound . [Edited 4/11/06 2:21am] Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

I just played yesterday " Dance Frite " from their album " Gonna Have Big Fun " ( 1984 ) .... dazzling synths & bass in that track . IMO , in that album and Roger's " Saga..."-solo-project were already some first signs of a new direction in sound .
