Not the best seat in the house. Side view of the stage, to be exact.
I'm still having real trouble justifying this to myself... confused

I have flipped flopped over this myself. My friend and I discussed how much we would pay to see her as we know that if wee want to go and if we want good seat, we'll be paying a pretty penny. We had no clue as to how much she would charge this time around, but were willing to pay 300 each. It turned out she got in late to the presale and ended up with the 165 seats...11th row though inthe lower level. We both agreed that was the right amount for both of us.

I also went for the presales...just to see. I got access to the floor (350 dollars) but I went back and got cheaper seats....As I was already going and the likely hood of me going to the one here was not likely (I was going to sell them to a friend).

You might have paid 350, but if you got great seats (better have) then it's worth it. Normally, these days one has to pay a lot for better seats.

Yeah- I have issues. I just bought my first home (I close a week from today eek ) and I really have no business getting the $350's, but then the damn presale, and boom, there's 10th row, and well, Madge has my pussy in a headlock. What was I gonna do? shrug

On a side note, here's a lovely new quote from Mariah:

"People ask me, 'Why don't you just go on tour and charge huge amounts of money? Do these small venues, but charge thousands and thousands of dollars to go in,' " Carey said. "Because I have fans of all different ages and different money ranges, and they can't afford to go out and spend that kind of money. Not everybody has a budget to go out and go really high-end."

BLESS her.

Yeah but Madonna and Mariah are 2 completely different touring beasts. Madonna charges what she does because her tours are really expensive and because scaplers get all the good seat if she offers them for cheap.

Prince's model is still the best.

... and not worth the money the shows cost. I saw Mariah once and Madonna twice. The former was far more enjoyable. I wasn't even any sort of Mariah fan at the time and I was obsessed with Madge. How the tables turn biggrin

That's because no one would pay lots of money to see Mariah, i mean DUH!
Mariah still has issues selling out the smaller venues with the smaller prices. This isn't rocket science.

I have to add, if Cher, Mariah, Britney, Gwen Stefani, whoever, had the ability to sell out shows at large costs, they would. But obviously their fanbases aren't as dedicated (crazy) as Madonna's.

If MJ ever went on tour again, God knows he'd be charging just as much as Madonna if not more.

Barbra Streisand has tickets that go as high as 1000 dollars, yes i did not type an extra 0.

It's only an issue with Madonna because she is one of the very few acts who could charge that much and get away with it.

But I certainly don't think Madge sits there and thinks...WOW I could charge 350 per person and get away with it" I do think there are very good reasons she charges for the better seats.

I thought Cher tix were pretty pricey.

It's obvious though, isn't it? Madonna, Cher, Barbra. "The Pink Pound" as we call it. The older your audiences are and the gayer your audiences are, the more disposable income they'll have!

Although both times I saw Madonna, apart from the mincing 30-something gays in their tight tanktops frolicking about, I was surrounded by rich snobs who looked like they got their tickets through posh company connections, and they couldn't even sing along if they tried.

It makes for a rather unenthusiastic audience overall. I prefered Kylie where it was a mix of families all out there to have a good time. I do have the habit of scanning audiences to take note of what sort of people are all there. MJ's was easily the most diverse. Least diverse would be those 80s nostalgia tours dancing jig

I agree, but everyone just thinks she's greedy, but whatever. Her production costs are certainly a lot more than a Prince show with all the equipment and employees she has on board.
At the end of the day i would think she's pocketing just as much as Prince would.

But i hate the fact people don't give credit to the fact that Madonna is just a well respected performer, because she certainly is. If you people think that the thousands and thousands people going to see her are all mindless gays then you're certainly mistaken. It's the same misconception that all people going to a 50 Cent concert or Eminem concert are all thugs.
I'm glad Madonna has the respect she does without having to french kiss her fans asses a la Mariah Carey and call her fans "lambs" and write them letters of "love" just so they would like her.

London Madonna audiences may be shite. Totally different to every other show I've seen though. It doesn't make much difference anyway, especially the DWT where Madge seemed to think London was the only city in the whole of the UK. Her Scottish fans do put up with a hell of a lot for the travel fares as well as the ticket prices.

I know what I'm about to say is a bit pointless since I already got the tickets to the Madonna show but...
I would have less of a problem spending that kind of cash on Prince. At least I'd know that what I was getting that night was something totally unique and "in the moment". With Madge everything is so perfected and rehearsed that there's very little room for spontaneity. It's all theatre and production - like watching a DVD live, if that makes any sense.

I guess you don't feel like you've witnessed something special in the same way you do after a Prince gig. Jesus that sounds corny. I've never been "moved" by a Madonna show like I have with Prince.

Anyway, like you said, I'm a big fag in a tank top with too many pink pounds...so I'm going!

I know what you mean about Prince's shows being different though. Yeah, Madonna [and post-80s MJ for that matter] hardly even speak to the audience. I remember her faking some crocodile tears and saying we were the best audience of the tour so far... which HAD to be a lie since a large portion of the arena had left already by that point and no-one was dancing or screaming giggle

If you stay away from any reviews or set list posting of Madonna's show, you should be fine. If you like the new album, yu're going to love the concert.

I do agree on the P vs M factor. It'll always be that way though. M usually puts on a good show rehersed or not.

Yeah but even then there's a difference..

The Girlie was rehearsed 2 the max but
still had an air of spontenaity even
the band got room 4 a little improvisation..

as opposed 2 the RIT.

It's going to be impossible to not hear about the setlist, see pictures etc.

Actually, I just got thinking about the last comment I made and I do take back a bit of what I said. I saw M play a gay club here a couple of months ago and that was the first time I saw some genuine interaction with the audience.
Plus, it only cost me £20!
