Favorite DOORS Album

I pulled out my box set, "The Doors: Collected Recordings." It is hard to believe they only had six albums released. There is an endless number of re-issues and "best of" collections out too.

I think my very favorite is "Morrison Motel" from 1970.

(I think Prince & the Revolution doing a version of "Peace Frog" would have been amazing! I like the guitar and funk in it and think P could add a unique touch to it.)

What is your favorite Doors release?

I guess I would have to go for the debut as my overall pick, but my favorite Doors song is on Morrison Hotel.

I have a soft spot for the Soft Parade.

I have the greatest hits, which has kept me happy for the most part. I have never gotten into their albums per say.

Anyone who says something bad about the Doors will feel my wrath..lol.

Their mystery is legendary, even though Jim was a real doofus--his poetry is mostly a gimic, but damned did that band ever smolder when they did.

Strange Days is their best album. Creepy organs and odd poetry is where they shine. Their blues stuff just leave me cold. They did some goofy pop songs, but mostly they were one of my fave bands.

Without their creepy sound, they aren't the Doors.

"His spoken word albums"... don't be a snob... there's only "An American Prayer" right? And that has music all over it...

SenseOfDoubt

I have a strange relationship with the doors. I do have all their original albums (as the remastered versions), and a Essential Rarities double album (that I have... not bought *redface'). After all I do not like them that much (I even put them on a "do not like" list), but sometimes I pull out their albums and enjoy the hell out of them. Maybe it's the strange Morrison-mystics-cult (has anyone ever seen that Stone movie?, think it was the ultimate worst and ruined the band to me a little bit more).

Taken as a whole, I guess my fave album would be Morrison Hotel. I do like Soft Parade a lot, too. L.a. Woman has two of my favourite Doors songs ever on it: Riders and - especially - Cars Hiss By My Window.

I think L.A Woman would be my second pick and Morrison Hotel would come in third. Or maybe a tie between L.A Woman and Alive she cried.

Gotta be L.A. Woman...makes me want to go to America to see LA and Texas both. Though I hate to play favourites with quality albums like this....
