Brodsky Quartet versions of any of Bjork's songs really highlight the musicality. It's not all beats beats beats that make her songs. You should check the Family Tree box set...

The music is TOO good. Yeah. I can't listen to it too often, nor watch the movie. Every time I do, it leaves me wrecked for days. I have never seen it 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Maybe it's a good thing this is getting such a limited release and probably never going to video. this made dancer in the dark look like freakin' MY FAIR LADY. oh, lord, now i am scared to go. dancer in the dark ripped my heart out of my chest, threw it on the floor, and did the cha-cha on it. Is that to just get people into the theater or is Matthew Barney really like that? I mean, so out there that he really won't release this film on video?

That's just how he is, I'm afraid. I don't know how he makes any money. his films are considered art pieces and not "motion pictures", which may sound pretentious, but actually he does tons of sculpture work for his films, so it's kinda like he creates a filmed exhibition of his artwork with a narrative to keep it from being static or arbitrary. of course, the narratives of his films mean a lot more than just a reason to show off his sculpture, but that's the rationale. he sells DVDs of his cremaster movies on commission - they cost thousands of dollars, but he personally sculpts the DVD cases, and the cases alone are amazing art pieces. i saw a few at the guggenheim show of his work a couple of summers ago, and i was all there is ONE dvd you can buy via retail - it's a scene from cremaster 3 called "the order", which is about 30 minutes long, but it also has the scene from all the different characters' points of view. it's a pretty cool idea.

I have never even heard of it before it's both. her babydaddy is a film director and she did the soundtrack for his latest movie, and she appeared in it with him as well. I thought she was done with movies....Although from the sounds of it, this sounds more like a music video with a lot of stuff going on....

Okay, I'm definitely seeing this movie then. There was an article about 'DR9' in the spring issue of FLM magazine where Matthew talks about finding the ship on which to film. It sounded interesting: http://www.movienet.com/drawrestr9.html Plus, I can't turn down an opportunity to see Björk's muff.

Her childhood album from 1977? I meant to say "Post". Doh! I just think "Post" was her breakthrough album for a reason....It's Bjork being as a mainstream as possible yet still being Bjork!

Did it suck? we were all traumatized by it. i'm glad i saw it, just for the curiosity factor, but i will never watch it again and i don't think it was a fraction as good as the cremaster cycle. I work for the sf int'l film fest and they're showing Drawing Restraint here next week. Matthew Barney is coming. I'm so constipated with watching movies though, I doubt I'll bother. I feel like I've "been there, done that" with the cremaster cycle.

That's just how he is, I'm afraid. I don't know how he makes any money. I think a $50,000 check for a sculpture or installation is a pretty decent income. I don't know for sure what they cost, but he plays at that level.
