no more odd than celebrating the 20th anniversary of prince's 6th record (but not his first).

Nah, it' OK celebrating the release of a Diamond album and the artist's most successful record.

i thought control was a pretty defining moment in the history of janet jackson. shrug

What, cos she hooked up with 2 producers?

I wish she'd stop ignoring her first two records and perform a cuple of the Dream Street tracks on a tour biggrin

She should simply call the album "20". Anyway, I can't wait to hear it. Hope she comes back strong.

That's what Whitney was supposed to call her new album...had it come out last year and Whitney laid off the pipe for 2 seconds....BTW, this is really nothing new and thankfully it's only "tentively" titled "20 Years Old". I mean, we know, we know...."Control" was your breakthrough. I don't understand revisiting the past in this way. See Barbra's "Guilty Pleasures", a title which probably didn't help it sell. Originally I think it was supposed to be called "Letting Go".

terrible. absolutely terrible. who the hell does she have working for her...and is she really incapable of coming up with a better title than "20 years old"? just awful.

the record should just be called "20" or "20 years older" or, well, anything else really. this just makes her look really desperate.

Lawd that title is bad ..makes her look very verrrry desperate to be young again.

"Young Again" would be a much better title...But Janet's never been that mature (except for on "The Velvet Rope" and to a slighter extent "janet." and "RMN1814").

Not only would it not be as "what the fuck-ish" but, it sounds a lot cooler and more easy to remember.

Also the marketing people could go batty and release it on the 20th of whatever month and have the promotional banners say

JANET - 2O - 5/20/06

Maybe the 3121 marketing has gone to my head lol

I wonder who else did that? I think this is something Usher actually pioneered! eek 8701 was released August 7, 2001!

I don't think the title is not that big of a deal honesty, she knows that just about everybody knows that she's not twenty and like I said earlier I think she defefinitly going to explain the cocept and it could be worse. like I am twenty years old" now that would be desperate. and I don't find nothing wrong with revisting the control era and I don't think this Cd is going to be a control pt two like som people are saying, I think it's just going to be good old fashion dance type of music like control.

Isn't it scary and shocking at the same time Cee to put "Usher" and "Pioneered" in the same sentence? Usher "has got it bad" for Michael Jackson's stage shows. (Pun INTENDED.) lol

I think the album title will just remind people that she's (or is gonna be) 40 years old.

Janet's a visionary. Who else would be bold enough to name a disc after her target demographic?

Not true... if so, the title surely would be "20 year old closet homosexuals"?

Why anyone would celebrate the release of their 3rd album is a bit odd too.

Because she, like so many other R&B acts that have crossed over, probably doesn't feel like she actually "arrived" until she had a pop audience. Songs like "Say You Do", "Young Love", and "Don't Stand Another Chance" were well known by the R&B crowd but I guess they don't count.

The damn thing should be called "24".

Yes. Without those two, Janet would be hanging out with Rebbie now. 'Control' was definitely the defining moment in her career.

you know, the weight jokes are so unneccesary. janet's size has nothing to do with her music, how its produced or marketed, or anything else. the album title is stupid. how does that have anything to do with janet's size or weight?

and i know some of y'all can only talk right now 'cuz your hidden behind a computer screen. check the mirror and then check yourself.

why are you people just assuming things? we haven't heard nothing from the album or anything just the title . and if if is marketed towards younger people is because their the ones that support a lot of music look at Mariah and how she martked Emancipation of Mimi" So I don't know why people just want to criticzie Janet.
