Damita Jo is dope.

Someone asked who did "Got Til It's Gone" - it's JayDee a/k/a J.Dilla!

There's a big tribute to JayDee in the April 2006 issue of URB Magazine. You should check it out, if you haven't already.

Judging from her last album, Damita Jo, which was a relatively great album if you ask me, I think that this will be an equally good album as Damita Jo was. I expect more dance-pop numbers on this record than some slutty stuff that we have been listening to since the 1993 Janet. album, since it's some kind of reincarnation of her Control years. I think this record will put her back on that MTV map. And plus, I've heard Jermaine Dupri produces most of the material on here and I think he did a great job with Mariah on the Emancipation Of Mimi record, which is his best production work yet. So, I think it will be pretty interesting how she wraps this one up in the fall.

Why is the lead single being released 4 months ahead of the projected album date? Is it gonna be a teaser or something, with a better single a month before album releases? I'm scratching my head at that.

I dunno. I wanna have faith, but I don't know what to really think. I'll just have to wait and listen before I say anything else.

I doubt either one will come out when JD says they will....Again, everyone's been qouted except for Janet. It will be delayed...It has been like a million times already.

I hope JD keeps his production to the minimal and that theres more Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Yea he's an alright producer, I just dont want the album to sound like The Emancipation of MIMI. Let Janet have her own distinct sound and not sound like everyone else.

Though Damita Jo was spotty, the dance numbers were some of her best("All Nite", "R&B Junkie", "Slolove"). I hope she goes towards that direction.

I am SO GLAD there are other people who think as I do. Jermaine Dupri is a one-trick pony who does nothing but produce/write/"create" one-hit wonders that fade with a quickness.

Please J, he might be a nice guy and treat you like a godess, and if that's what you get out of that relationship, that's fine. But when he starts fiddlin' around with your soundboard, keep him away. FAR away.

All For You kind of disappointed me because after she made one of the most important, creative, and riskest albums of her career (The Velvet Rope); it felt like she wanted to become another "Britney Spears" and some of the material on that album sounded uninspired because I think she run out of ideas and too repetitive. Damita Jo is a great album because of the urban/hip-hop stylings and the production on most of those songs sounds breezy and refreshing. Lryically, it wasn't really on point. What was most suprising about the album was that there was not alot of weak tracks. I can't figure out why so many people dismissed Damita Jo!

Yeah, Warmth has a production that is too muddled! Moist is better...

I think "Warmth" was an "All For You" outtake (note that Rockwilder is a producer and/or writer on that track). I think with a little editing and adding some tracks that missed the cut ("Put Your Hands On"....I mean, come on!), it would have ranked with her best. Granted, the songwriting was weak in comparison to most of her albums, but what are you going to do.

I got really into both right away but then got sick of them (I got sick of DJ faster). Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I don't see "All for You" as a Britney soundalike album (although Britney and her producers definately listened to AFY before making IMHO Brit's best disc, "Britney") but it was her return to fun along with a dig at Rene on some great songs (arguebly, her songwriting is stronger than ever on some of the cuts toward the end like "The Truth" and "Feels So Right"). I honestly have no idea what is gong on with DJ...It's all at once all over the place but not all that diverse, mostly sticking with safe R&B producers and sounds. The attempts at rock aren't as solid as something like "Black Cat" or even "What About?" from TVR. Her dance tracks are hot and she really lives in the club and brings some great innovations to the bland, boring techno pop of the dance scene. The slow jams are weak as hell, though. I just think the R&B on this album could have been so much stronger but for the most part it's Janet desperatly chasing trends....DJ, or at least the final US release of it which excludes to strong cuts, might be her Britney album.

His latest Product "Control Myself" by LL & J.Lo is something to think about 2. If Janet came out with that instead of them Id be all over that shit like white on rice.

Why does everyone hate All for You? That's my second favorite Janet album after RN1814.

I'll be sure to pick this up.

Personally, I don't hate it, but I think All For You wasn't an envelope pushing effort, it was a big step backwards. It had some songs I liked, but most of the production is what kills the album for me.

I don't think that's a strategy. BTW, I wouldn't come close to holding your breath for an MJ album....There isn't really any news about him working on one and you know once he does some serious work on something, that hype will be non-stop from when he starts recording until the album is out.

I don't get it either but I know alot of people who don't like afy just because of " would you mind" and the same for Damita jo people didn't like it because of warmth and moist. anyway I think all for you is a decent Cd ( not her best but at the same time it's not her worse" another reasona alot of people didn't like it was because it came right after the velevt Rope( which a lot of people consider her best) so they were disappointed they didn't get another velvet Rope.

History in the Making as Super Hot Producer Jermaine "JD" Dupri Teams With Legendary Hitmakers Jimmy "Jam" Harris and Terry Lewis to Produce Music Icon Janet Jackson's Highly Anticipated Album

New Janet Jackson Album Tentatively Titled "20 Years Old"

NEW YORK CITY, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/03/2006 -- Super hot producer Jermaine "JD" Dupri and legendary hitmakers Jimmy "Jam" Harris & Terry Lewis are joining their extraordinary talents to produce music icon Janet Jackson's upcoming release, tentatively titled "20 Years Old." Set for release in the Fall of this year, the collaboration between Dupri, Jam & Lewis is the first time three of the hottest and most successful producers in music history have merged their incredible gifts and musical ears to produce one of the most highly anticipated albums of 2006!
Together, Dupri, Jam & Lewis have worked with a who's who list of music superstars from Mariah, Usher, Aretha Franklin, Gwen Stefani, Heather Headley, Yolanda Adams, Nelly, Bow Wow, TLC, Mary J. Blige, Jagged Edge, Jessica Simpson, Monica, New Edition, Run-DMC, Alicia Keys, Ludacris and Whitney Houston and collectively garnered five Grammy awards and 31 Grammy nominations. Lending their genius to the new Jackson album can only set the stage for chart-topping, multi-platinum success. Dupri, also President of Urban Music at Virgin Records, is the album's executive producer and excited about working with Jam & Lewis. "Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are musical powerhouses," says Dupri. "Our individual success have been unparalleled and have kept music fans bouncing to our beats and singing our songs for years. The world has no idea what they are about to experience - - Janet has the best production trio possible -- and I guarantee, we will deliver!"
