Guns and Roses

Did any of you go to the Guns and Roses concert here in Detroit last night? I heard that they performed about 5-6 songs and Axl got pissed off and threw the mic on the stage, walked off and they never came back... lol

What happened? Anyone know?

I agree with you there. I've seen them quite a few times, and luckily, he didn't pull any of this shit when I saw them.

You would think, that if you are trying to make a comeback, you wouldn't piss your fans off like this.

I saw them when they came to Mpls last week. The band was just amazing. Esp the lead guitarist, Buckethead.. For those of you who don't know, he wears a KFC bucket on his head with a white mask over his face. Man's guitar work is incredible. Think Slash minus the 6 pack before the show. (Granted Slash wrote half the riffs he played, but great playing nonetheless) How he plays with a mask on i have no idea.
Axl was in much better shape than at the mtv awards show. He lost his gut and was running around stage like the Axl of old. His voice was much better too.

I know one of the staff that work at the Target Center and she said he missed his first plane that night, but then got a later one. GNR was supposed to go on at 930, but actually came out at 1030pm. The staff were told he almost didn't show and if by chance he didn't, they would have to prepare for a pissed off crowd.
Suffice to say the show was great, and they played all their best songs.

My mom and sister went to this last night. My mom told me this morning that they didn't come on stage until 10:20. About 12:20 a.m. they began to sing "Patience." Axl apparently was messing up the words at one point, and threw his microphone down and walked off stage. The band stopped playing for a second, looking around at each other, then started up again. Axl came back on stage to sing a few more notes, said good night, threw the microphone on the floor and walked off the stage again.

Of course, everyone was expecting an encore, but after several minutes, the house lights went on and everyone had to leave. My mom was told by security that there was a 12:30 curfew for that concert at the Palace (Auburn Hills).

The band that went on before them, CK-something (I am not up on this kind of music) was terrible. They were getting booed. The singer spit on the audience, tore up his guitar and threw it at the audience, jumping into the audience at one point to fight, I guess.

My mom, who only went to drive my sister who doesn't have her drivers license, said that the four guitar players that were in GNR were awesome, but the whole concert experience was horrible.

"Not like the Prince concerts we've been to, was it?" I asked her!!

I found this snippet on mtv.com:
"... While Axl Rose's latest incarnation of Guns N' Roses are back in the game, former members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum are working together again (with writing contributions by Izzy Stradlin) and it looks like they've found a singer to flesh out the band. According to Slash's and McKagan's Web sites, Kelly Shaefer from Neurotica has been auditioning to handle mic duties for the boys and a decision is expected soon."

Here's a cool pic of Buckethead(and article by Kurt Loder): http://www.mtv.com/news/a...tory.jhtml

Sounds like business as usual. Who the hell wants to see that fake as group now anyways? That show on MTV was pitiful! What an atrocity--it was uncomfortable to watch. Axl and his jerk-off band. That aint Guns n Roses, thats Guns n Poses! Aint shit without Slash. Maybe even Izzy. Just like nobody wants to see Mick Jagger without Keith playin with him. You cant replace the essence of a band.

Axl is such a drama queen. That's so typical of him to just storm off the stage for whatever insignificant reason and not return. Why is'nt his manager kicking his ass?

I was thinking about going to see them here in Sac but then i saw that Dj magic mike or mixmaster mike (something like that) was opening up i said Forget it.
When i saw GNR back in 93 they only played a few songs axl got mad and left. I had to stand there through Brian May of Queen playing Bohemian Rhapsody. Everybody sang that opera part together and very loud. It was a nightmare!
Oh yeah! Axl looked horrible at the MTV awards.
Peace and Love!

i'm stuck in 'the armpit of canada' so its not like anyone would come here...but after hearing all this shit i guess i'd rather sit home and listen to GNR on the stereo...even though i love their music, from the sounds of it, their concert experience leaves much to be desired.

I think he and Prince both agreed that turning 29 or 30 was a really tough time for them
