so i read in a bio of bowie called "Loving The Alien" that apperently Aretha sappusly during an award ceremony around bowie's young american era...sappusly when she won a prize she said "she was so happy she could david bowie"...crowd laughs..he sappusly extends his arms and she passes by him as if nothing. sappusly the books saids that bowie never forgot that...also that the whole thing was recorded.

According to legend, as told to one of his biographers to MOko magazine, his speech to Aretha was as followed:

"...as he did in 1975 when he turned up to present Aretha Franklin with a Grammy, and then delivered a drug-addled eulogy to Lady Soul sounding like Peter O'Toole on PCP"

HE also criticized DYlan face to face in 1974, all because of the effects of cocaine.
"Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

i've read that the recording of "sisters are doin' it for themselves" wasn't exactly a warm and fuzzy hugfest.

being the classy lady she is, annie never went into specifics about her experiences with aretha. she just said something to the effect of, "well, i still admire her as an artist." lol

Guess Aretha wasn't up on her Eurythmics...Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox were lovers before they formed the group.

They were always mean or always wanted to be mean. When they get famous, nothing's holding 'em back anymore.
