Does anybody know of a 70s avant-garde jazz/rock group with an astronaught on the cover? In 1997 one of my friends worked at a mental hospital and befriended this man. One time I went to pick her up and he invited us over to hang out. He and I got to talking music and he dragged out this record, put it on and asked what I thought. He told me it was a premiere jazz group from the 70s and that the album was made by this jazz group and premiere rock musicians of that time.
I remember that there was an astronaught on the cover and he told me it was an interpretive story about a knight rescuing a princess. I can't really remember much more than that but the music was absolutely killer. He made me a tape of it but did not label it and I can't remember who this group was. And I have since lost track of the tape Anybody know who this group might be? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

This was the 1st cover that came to mind but the storyline doesn't match...
... and now this doesn't really look like an astronaut either. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Then there's this one that satisfies the astronaut requirement...
...but no Rock musicians or knights/princesses again. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Gosh, I just remember that the music was so incredible. And there were no words. So where this guy got the story of the Princess and the Knight I'll never know I want to find this again 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

But that would mean the astronaut wouldn't be on the cover if it was a group album and it would be "The Romantic Warrior" Sounds to me like it would be a foreign group outside of the U.S.

More clues... * Single astronaut on the cover * Instrumental fusion music * Storyline may be a figment of someone's imagination. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. This was another possibility...
...but then there's too many astronauts and it was done in '69. Groundbreaking record though for the electronica crowd. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

....
I'm going to assume it's not Flood by Herbie Hancock's Headhunters I guess that doesn't fit the rest of the criteria.... ... [Edited 3/14/06 13:28pm] " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

None of the albums are it. I would recognize the cover if I saw it. The astronaught is pretty large and takes up a good space on the cover. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

The UK group Camel had an album called "I Can See Your House From Here"...had a picture of a crucified Astronaut looking toward earth ...actually, this was more progressive rock, though.... .... Why would there be an astronaut on the cover if the story line is about a knight rescuing a princess? me thinks supa was that night.

Actually there was some of this goin round But I clearly remember holding the album cover as he laid out this whole story about a Knight in search of a princess and he explained each of the songs in this story and I remember lookin at the astronaught on the cover and trying to figure out how the hell this was a story about a knight rescuing a princess but that album was the bomb. Next time I go to storage I'm gonna dig for the tape. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740
