Pardon me if I'm exaggerating a bit too much, but I truly do believe that this is one of those cases where if God took the form of a musical album, this is what it'd sound like.

I never heard an entire Stevie wonder album. (I know, it's shamefull!) But I'll check him out in the future!

It's kinda ironic you posted this, Squiddyren because I was listening to this classic and Talking Book all this weekend. But back to Innervisions: it's one of those albums that takes you on an amazing journey without skipping any tracks and gives you the real truth. Stevie performed, worte, and produced the whole album flawlessly and 35 years later, it sounds like it was recorded today. Listening to tracks like Too High, Living For The City, Golden Lady, Don't You Worry Bout A Thing, Higher Ground, and Visions is just magical. Stevie spoke to us about the black ghettos of America on this record, just like Marvin Gaye spoke it on What's Going On. War, drugs, uptopias, love, Nixon, and peace are the main topics he is talking about here. It is not only one of the greatest albums I've ever heard, but it's one of my favorite albums also. The Grammy awards definitely weren't wrong when they gave this album Album Of The Year!

I often think this album gets overshadowed by the whole opus of Songs In the Key of life.

I think Innervsions is the true masterpiece. Not a note wrong.

I don't think thats a true consensus. Steve Loder wrote Stevie Wonder : A Musical Guide to the Classic Albums and has mixed praise for SITKOL, but does not mix his acclaim for Iv. I'm inclined to agree with him: SITKOL is a bit of a self-indulgent sprawl.
