so its now okay to judge and make assumptions about people because of their appearance? sorry, its the same thing..singling out folks who are different...its demeaning and its wrong.. nobody liked it when white folks did it to black folk..

Well there's not really any ambiguity about the colour of someones skin, there can be about someones sexuality. I consider myself to have a pretty decent gaydar, and often play that game with friends, in a lighthearted way, i dont consider myself judging them on their appearance, or Judging at all. More pulling together the little nuances in their behaviour, their speak, their body lanuguage etc, not just their appearance, and making an assumption about their sexuality. I dont hold things like the colour of skin or sexuality against people so i consider this pretty harmless.

Dont even go down that route of, we shouldn't judge or make assumptions about people, because we all do it unconsciously every single day. We're conditioned into it.

nod exactly

it is too a negative to make assumptions and judge folks simply based on their appearance...in no way was i trying to equate blacks to gays..i was just making a comparison to how others were judge simply based on their appearance. it wasnt appropriate then and it isnt appropriate now. regardless of who's mother is allowing it.

theres a complete difference in how blacks judged whites and how lourdes is judging gays. whites not only judged who they were based on there skin but they also treated em like shit cuz of it. lourdes is doing somethin EVERYONE does. everyone at some point judges people based on how they look and i bet u do it too. what can be negative is the treatment that comes from that judging. and so far, as far as lourdes is concerned, we havent heard about her doin any gay bashin

its a kid for christ sakes...parents need to be setting an example..you wanna know how kids grow up to hate folks, by singling folks out for their exterior appereance..not saying lourdes is going to grow up that way but why risk it?

cha know what i mean?

I wonder how Madonna will explain "A Certain Sacrifice" to her? lol

I think when the time is right, Lourdes will get to hear many things about her mommy's past.

You're still not making sense, but that's okay. comfort You're only here to stir the ire of Madonna fans.

then why is other people understand what im saying? and i really dont appreciate you making condescending assumptions about the intent of my contribution on this thread..

its not cool...a.t.a.l.l.

disbelief

I apologize. Perhaps your comment would have made more sense if the full text of her comment was included in the original post in this thread, but it was not for some reason. My mistake (the bold part is what was left out):

The pop diva, considered by some to be an icon in the gay community, tells the magazine her 9-year-old daughter likes to guess who is gay: "Oh, and the other thing she likes to do when we go out, she says, 'Mom, do you want me to point out who the gay men are?' And I say, 'Okay, but I think I already know.'"

Madonna also addresses her feud with Elton John, who in 2004 accused her of lip-synching.

"He seems to be angry,"
she says. "I seem to have become a target. It's not very gentlemanly or gracious. But he did send me a letter apologizing for his last outburst, right before his wedding." (John and filmmaker David Furnish took civil-union vows in December.)

Without that portion of the text, it seemed like you were jumping to conclusions. Yes, she probably should discourage her daughter from doing it, but we don't know that she's not.
