Sex Pistols say "We're not coming to Rock n Roll Hall of Fame" Their statement is so punk
I agree with them. Give em Hell SP http://www.billboard.com/...1002074761 Sex Pistols On Rock Hall Induction: 'We're Not Coming' February 24, 2006, 12:50 PM ET Jonathan Cohen, N.Y. The Sex Pistols have opted not to attend their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which will take place March 13 at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel. "We're not coming. We're not your monkeys," reads a handwritten statement filled with spelling mistakes posted on the infamous punk band's Web site. "Next to the Sex Pistols, rock and roll and that hall of fame is a p*** stain," the statement says. "If you voted for us, hope you noted your reasons. You're anonymous as judges, but you're still music industry people. We're not coming. You're not paying attention." The Sex Pistols last toured in 2003, having earlier reformed in 1996 for the first time since their original 1978 split. In a 2003 interview with Billboard.com, frontman Johnny Rotten referred to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as "the rock and roll hall of shame," and proudly proclaimed the group would never write another new song. "We only needed to make one album to absolutely define how the world is," he said. "Quite frankly, I think it's a miracle that we're still alive, and that's historical in itself," he continued. "We fought this industry tooth and nail non-stop for 25 solid years, and we're still here. Hello? They can't get rid of us. And there's a reason for that. It's truth. You can't hide truth. You can manipulate it. You can slag us or put us down, but you'd be wrong. I've not put a word out wrong, not ever." [Edited 2/24/06 12:11pm]

just from the title, i can tell it's the same-old, same-old cliched rebellion from them.
Johnny Rotten's brand of anarchy is so predictable, i swear it comes from a playbook anymore.

I think this is totally the right move. That's what punk is all about.
I can't help but think though, that off-camera and away from the band, John Lydon is just a regular guy and this is total schtick.

Johnny Lydon fascinates me. He's extremely eloquent, yet very contradictory. Still, he's been involved in some of my favourite records of all time. So I'll let him off.
AND...his auto-biography is superb - mandatory reading for all, I'd say.

P.S. If punk is dead, Green Day seem to be doing pretty well out of it.

Me again.
I seriously doubt that this is an official statement. I will exit stage left now...

Alright, I'll pardon the Pistols for refusing their induction. But I'll be pissed if Rotten passes up a Public Image Ltd. induction. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.
