CTP'S NEO SOUL OFFERING: DONNIE - THE COLORED SECTION If people wanna know what happened to true R&B with a socio-political conscious...look no further than Donnie. This cat is all that, a bag of chips, AND 2 Snickers. Great music, great voice, TREMENDOUSLY MOVING LYRICS; a great trip altogether. MAYBE one filler cut, the rest of the CD is a STRAIGHT LISTEN THRU, trust me. If you R&Bers/Neo Soulers don't have this CD then you must not have a pulse. WAKE UP! His "You Got A Friend" is great to play in the springtime. Really fits that season for me.

I said the EXACT same thing when I first heard it, then I played it when I was driving down the coast in Laguna Beach in Orange County and the shit just fit the vibe perfectly! "Free yo mind and yo ass will follow" - George Clinton

Well, you're mostly right - It's about the many ways Blacks can wear their hair and they should be proud of their hair (traits altogether basically)...the phrase "Cloud 9" in this case it means his hair/afro/hairstyle. Deep shit, huh? "Free yo mind and yo ass will follow" - George Clinton

He reminds me alot of Stevie Wonder, same wonderful melodies. Cloud9, Do You Know, Turn Around, You Got A Friend and maybe Heaven Sent could all have been on one of Stevies classic 70s albums. They are that good I think Stockholm i mitt hjärta..
