I was an early MJNO member joining and to be honest, I probably post more here than there these days. I value discussing Michael in an objective way and with other music lovers, who like some of his stuff, but don't dig some of his stuff. It gets old when they just say, "I love all his stuff." That is okay, but I like the debates and the remarks. As much as I love "HIStory" (Disc 2) and Blood On The Dance Floor, I still really enjoy having the debates with the fans who value "Off The Wall" and "Thriller" more. At any rate..co-sign with the above.
Prince is the artist a lot of Michael fans connect with in Michael's down time.

Of course Michael Jackson was talented. But presently, it's like the old saying goes... "you're only as good as your last shit".... and Mike hasn't made anything worthwhile in ages.

He isn't as talented as Prince, not by a long stretch, but he's a great dancer and can sing well, especially before he ruined his face.

I'm pretty sure he's messed with kids though. I have a hard time even thinking about him because of that, much less listening to the albums, all of which I own... and that pisses me off.

I don't understand how so many people found the verdict conclusive.

It's a huge, disturbing deal that people seem willing to gloss over, that he may have been inappropriate with children, despite what the court ruled.

For that reason I am taking care of my own inner child and have sealed all albums and dvds in a plastic bag until further notice.

Michael Jackson went solo in 1979 and 10 years later he was already dead musically after only 3 albums, a couple of videos, a worlwide tour (Bad, good btw),and his famous moonwalk.
Rarely have we seen such a talent been wasted.

MJ was good but to compare him with Prince is an insult, but maybe some MJ fans need to wake up or grow up and realize how innovative and challenging P music is

Indeed. It's almost as odd as claiming "Kamasutra rules".

MJ got his prioties wrong. His idea of a "great" artist was how many albums you could sell and how many times you can get yourself in the gossip pages. Infact he was at his greatest between 1969 as an 11 yr old to his mid-2os. After that both his music and his persona become blander by the years. It's so sad to see someone who once exuded so much soul become so soulless. sad

I sadly partially agree with this. I think his prioties were wrong "Post Thriller." I think his goal of having the "biggest selling album of all time" was a great goal to have. It would be like a car salesman saying, "I want to be the dealer who has sold the most cars ever at this dealership."

However, when he tried to sell 100 million with "Bad" that was kind of like setting the bar, a bit too high as far as expectations.

I think "Thriller" was a double edged sword for Michael. Yes, he got to live his dream by it being the biggest selling album ever, however it also was his vice because from "Thriller" up to about "Dangerous" he chased the dream to outsell "Thriller."

Perfection is good to a point. I admire Michael for setting his goals high and making it happen. Sure the marketing people helped and all, but it was Michael's talent that did the most. nod

At any rate, I hope Michael has/will come to terms with the amazing record he set and be able to move on from it.

Now why did I say partially agree? I think some of Michael's best music was "HIStory" (Disc 2) and "Blood On The Dance Floor" (The 5 new tracks that aren't remixes.)

MJ is one of the biggest music icons of his era; that said, Prince is undoubtedly the more superior and talented artist...HOWEVER, there's no reason why the Org folks should pounce on the much younger MJ supporters who come to this site to stick up for their boy...Rather than shit on the MJ fans, just school them (in a less hostile tone) on why you find Prince the more profound talent...I think schooling the kids is the mature thing to do, not attacking them as if you were on a...well, Michael Jackson site....I think we are all bigger than that...
