The last GA show I attended was Soulive/Ledisi.

Soulive has carried a Jam-Band crowd which is very Hippie-like in nature.
The crowd is relatively chill outside of the non-stop groovin. dancing jig
They also don't have a front man exhorting the audience into extremely assholish behavior.

Strangely enough at the Stevie Wonder concert in Vegas, even though there was a designated "standing area", there were a small group of knuckleheaded adults that tried to stand in front of folks in the "seated area". disbelief

Generally, I don't have the patience for GA shows any longer.
I've joined the ranks of those that "need their space". wink

The worst concert experience I remember was my own darn fault. I was sunburned beyond belief on my arms and the next day tried to get up front at a Babes in Toyland show. People were rubbing up against my arms the whole way through and all through most of the set till I couldn't take it and had to walk out of the crowd. sad

something similiar on my part..first ever prince concert i went to i wore a jocking suit and fur coat.....and umm....well, i was "full of life".....

so stupid i was...i almost died of heat exhaustion..and for some reason i refused to take the fur coat off..

well, she got on my nerves BIG TIME, but she didn't ruin the show for me. little or anything could have cut into the buzz i was feeling that night. usually, prince shows are cool as long as it's reserved seating...though i'd see a GA prince show in chicago because i think all the 'purple hippies' out here are pretty good to each other.

the thing i hate WORST about GA shows is when i get my ass there way early to get up front by the stage, and 15 minutes before the show, some dumbfuck with a warped sense of entitlement just swoops his way right in front of me. some jerk tried that during the pixies show at lollapalooza last year, and the audience turned on him and bodysurfed him to the back of the crowd. it was SWEET.

That is incredibly annoying when people feel entitled to be in the front row. People need to camp the fuck out and earn that shit! lol

I hear you moonbeam,

The day b4 tickets went on sale (i think it was act 2) at earls court in January (concert was in july i think)coldest nite of the year btw, was frozen solid, well back to the concert I had front row tickets I had these two girls complaning they could not see and was calling me all the names under the sun, the problem for them was/ is im over 6 foot tall (or metric 187 cm), well if they had asked politley i would of changd my seat with my wife.

Another time i was almost dragged out of a NEC show in Birmingham, a steward asked me get stop standing on the seats. I just looked down and showed him where my foot would go if he bothered me again. biggrin lol

I've told this story here before, but I believe it's worthy of a repeat.

Shortly after "I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got" came out, I got the chance to see Sinead O'Connor in concert. I was very excited as I loved "The Lion & The Cobra" and thought its follow up was just as strong. Sinead came out onto the stage, sang three songs, said to the audience, "That's the minimum of songs I have to sing for you to not get your money back. Sometimes life's a bitch," and promptly left the premises. We kept waiting for her to come back to the stage - but she never did.

I promplty sold her two albums the next day. At least she got the "bitch" part right.

After the first of three Creatures (Siouxsie) shows two years ago at B.B. Kings in Times Square before everyone had a chance to leave the venue, some drunk fool got into a fight with security (he was tossed and was trying to get back in) and opened up a can of mace on one of the guards. The mace made its way throughout the venue and everyone still inside including myself started coughing uncontrollably. The fire alarm went on and management had to escort the remaining patrons out the freight entrance backstage.

I got food poisoning from something I ate before a Paul McCartney concert. Before I was sick I snuck to the bathroom to take a hit of weed. I was worried that I wouldn't be stoned at all from the one hit, but I kept getting more & more wasted. Then I felt sick. Then I thought supernatural things were happening, like I was thinking backwards or something.

I realized I needed to go to the bathroom. I could barely focus my eyes and I stumbled to the bathroom. I spent the entire concert on the FLOOR of the Anaheim Arena bathroom stall! People were trying to open the door onto my head or back and laughing at me. I hadn't even had a drink & I wasn't really high.

I could hear that the concert was over, and I realized I needed to find my friends. When I left the bathroom I realized it was literally right next to the first aid station!

I was still having trouble focusing, but somehow I stumbled to the car. I was actually relieved to find that the girl who'd had a couple of my french fries felt kind of sick, and it wasn't the weed (they were pretty anti drug & I was very embarassed). It was food poisoning, the sickest I ever felt, at the worst time. My worst concert experience.

It was at Sheila E.'s The Family Jamm a couple years ago. My partner is not a Sheila E fan at all, but I managed to convince him to go with me.Anyways, when we got to the venue here in L.A. we went to our seats which was several rows back.I was pretty excited since the Revolution was gonna be there.Prince was rumoured to show up, but of course he didn't.Wouldn't you know it our assigned seats were right next to a girl who was high on something, drugs or alcohol, I don't know which for sure. She was totally wasted & wasn't making any sense when she spoke! When the concert started she proceeded to put her hands all over my partner.God knows what she was thinking when she did this since both of us were gay lol !My partner politely kept pushing her awy, but she kept pawing at him mad . Finally he gave me this pissed off look & said "I'm Leaving!" & stormed off. I didn't know what to do since I didn't wanna leave the concert so I stayed in my seat! When he left , the girl even had the nerve to start being touchy feely with me! I wasn't polite like my partner & gave her a hard push to let her know I meant business & was not having it.She got the message & slithered back to her seat. After a few songs, I left my seat to look for my partner & found him still on the floor but sitting in the back where there was several rows of empty seats.I asked him if he was OK & he said yes, but wasn't going back anywhere near that loaded bitch lol !

Guess I'm getting old, but cannot handle GA concerts, and have very little tolerance for those that pay money to go to a concert, then spend all their time drinking beer, and passing in front of me repeatedly to go the toilet to piss....then only to return with another mega-size beer! Then the whole routine repeats itself! Why do they come if they are more interested in drinking beer then in listening to the artist?
The worst performance I have ever seen? Neil Diamond....he's too old!!! Scary! I didn't want to go in the first place - never a fan....too corny for me!

I saw Terence Trent Darby once and walked out. He was so pompous it made us sick. And also walked out of a Front 242 concert. But yeah, people can ruin shows. Whistlers, people who have to yell the whole time, people talking, etc. should all stay home.

OK, that is the wildest concert experience I've ever read. I'm surprised no one started whylin' out or tearing up the venue after that. There would've been some choice words and actions if something like that happened with the cheddar I save up to go to these shows.

Semi-related: I remember TLC had a concert at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California in 1993. They were supposed to headline a full concert show. Back then, Six Flags used to have popular music acts do concerts at their theme parks. Well, something happened and TLC didn't show up and the gig was cancelled. There were already hundreds of people who were geared up for the show. When it didn't happen there was melee at the park. Souvenir shops were looted, attractions vandalized, fights broke out, folks hospitalized. It was all over the local news.

Shortly thereafter, Six Flags issued a statement to the media saying that no more MTV-type popular music acts would be welcomed at any Six Flags theme park in the United States because of the high liability, safety and security issues. Ever since, Six Flags only has country music artists and Christian music acts at their theme parks.

I saw Musicology twice, and the first night I was front row behind the drum set, and I took a dear friend of mine to experience a prince show. It was horrible both acoustically and visually. we were right by the subwoofers, and we couldn't see very well. We just made jokes through the whole concert about being in the belly of a whale.

The second night with my girlfriend of the time was perfect. 1st tier seats, center side. Perfect.
