CTP'S NEO SOUL OFFERING: ADRIANA EVANS

Largely credited as being one of the earliest artists of the Neo Soul era, this debut was damn hot. I was even lucky enough to be on the short list of writers that wrote video concepts for her song "Say You Won't" (which ended up never being shot). A great angelic voice and great music behind her; her mother, Mary Stallings, was herself a gifted vocalist who sang with Count Basie and Dizzy Gillespie and issued a series of fine solo records. Her CD has that 70s feel to it (Especially on "Looking For Your Love") and great music and production work from Dred Scott.

If you want some nice, cool R&B stylings for that summer get-together or drive up along the coast, scoop this CD and you'll be more than satisfied.

I bought this album when it first came out. The original edition is was enhanced CD. This is right before the "Neo Soul" genre got all mainstream. My fave tracks include: "Love Me" and "Say You Won't". This is playable all the way through. For some reason I don't like he new album as much. I guess she changed her style up a lil too much.

I can't find "Nomadic"...then again I haven't been looking that hard for it. I heard she went to Brazil and hung out in the Rain Forest and got all natury and her music reflected all that shit and it wasn't good material.

I had her first album, liked it. Then I was watching some TV show and they played one of her songs from her last album. I can't remember the song now, but I did research that album and if I recall correctly... it can only be purchased through the record companys web site.

It's not THAT bad, jst and adjustment. I didn't like it as much as the 1st one. Alot of the so called latin rhythms were generic to me. "7 days" is the song off Nomadic that the show on VH1 soul. Decent song I guess.
