B.B. King apppreciation thread

I love this man!!! biggrin

A friend bought me a ticket as a Xmas present so we are going to check him out at the HOB here in Chicago Friday night. dancing jig woot! It will be only my second time seeing him: I saw him last at the Tweeter Center in 2003 with The Fabulous Thunderbirds and George Thurogood and the Destroyers of all people. lol. I was fifth row center! It was awesome. He signed autographs and gave out some guitar picks. biggrin In December, they actually put out a halfway decent one CD of some of his best stuff with my absolute favorite B.B. King songs on it: I Like to Live The Love, Pay The Cost To Be The Boss, Never Make A Move Too Soon and of course, The Thrill Is Gone. Here's the whole list:

1. Three O' Clock Blues
2. Please Love Me
3. You Upset Me, Baby
4. Sweet Sixteen Parts One & Two
5. Rock Me Baby
6. How Blue Can You Get?
7. Everyday I Have The Blues
8. Sweet Little Angel
9. Don't Answer The Door
10. Paying The Cost To Be The Boss
11. The Thrill Is Gone
12. Nobody Loves Me But My Mother
13. Chains And Things
14. Ain't Nobody Home
15. I Like To Live The Love
16. Never Make A Move Too Soon
17. Better Not Look Down
18. There Must Be A Better World Somewhere
19. When Love Comes To Town
20. Ten Long Years
21. I'll Survive

Show ya appreciation for a living legend. cool

my 1st exposure 2 the blues is when b.b. king was on an episode of "new york undercover"singin "the thrill is gone".... from there the growl of "sweet 16" and the mournful "nobody loves me but my mother" is still a part of my soul....

I've seen BB several times in concert and he is fantastic. I hope he stays well enough to tour for several years to come.

BB King is everywhere. You can hear him in Albert King, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny 'Guitar' Watson, Santana, Clapton ... It's that old single string vibrato thang - the 'King thang'. cool
The King influence goes deep into electric blues, rock and funk and even a little into jazz, I think. Truly a giant.

On the news the other week, it was reported that BB King's dog (called Lucille of course) had gone missing. Apparently, as a reward for its recovery, BB was offering one of his guitars. THIS is the blues! biggrin

B.B. has to be one of the most consistent performers ever - don't think I've ever heard/read a scathing review of "The King of the Blues".

When I first saw this thread, U know what I was thinking....I was like, no not another one, not another legend.

The last news I heard was that he was looking 4 his dog - Lucille. He actually put an award out - has anyone heard about this? Did he find his dog?

BB King is stale on the guitar these days
he has been playing the same licks since he first started
