QUESTIONS 4 FANS OF THE STROKES.... In the last month I've become a huge fan of The Strokes, bought all their cd's, love'em.
What I want to know is can anyone out there recommend other bands that a fan of The Strokes would like? I'm pretty knowledgable about music but as far as underground rock bands that have come out in the last 5 or 6 years I'm pretty clueless. Looking for some recommendations....THANKS!

Are you looking for newer bands?
If so, Interpol, The White Stripes, and Franz Ferdinand are good places to start. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

If you're looking for an older band, try Television. To me, the Strokes always sounded like Televison with shorter songs. Their album 'Marquee Moon" is a masterpiece #SOCIETYDEFINESU

The first time I heard the Strokes, there were three bands that immediately came to mind. One of them is Television, who've already been mentioned. The other two are:
1) The Modern Lovers - Their first album is one of the definitive new york hipster rock albums, and you can hear a lot of the Strokes in it, particularly the dry, slightly distorted vocals. 2) The Buzzcocks - I seem to be the only person who hears this, so perhaps I'm totally wrong, off in left field; but The Buzzcocks combined fast, punkish tempos, pop melodies and a drummer who could swing. I'd say the Strokes are dead ringers for them... [Edited 2/11/06 20:37pm]
