Musical instruments and the way they make us feel

strings - bliss, delight
bass - passion
piano - water (I can´t think of better word to describe the sound of piano)
accustion guitar - ordinary
rock guitar - aggression
blues guitar - blues
horns - drama, joy
drums - rhythm of life
electric drums - artificiality

that´s why my favourite instruments are bass, strings, piano, horns and normal drums.

strings - melancholy, depression
bass - drugged, worn-out yet pulsing
piano - tinkly... or melancholic and depressive
acoustic guitar - that just makes me think of either hippies or nazis, or both.
electric guitar - electirc guitar is so uncool an instrument from an electronic music fan's perspective that I don't wanna even think about it.
horns - las vegas
drums - just as long as they are programmed and sped-up I'm fine with them
electric drums - there are acoustic ones too?

My favourite instruments are: the sampler, the dfx destruction effects plug-in pack, Logitech PS/2 serial mouse and my Marshall DRP-1 preamplifier.

It looks that most of us aren´t crazy about acoustic guitar.

strings: Depressed.

They bore and depress the hell out of me. When I hear them, I think of symphonies and classical music.

bass: Rhythm.

One of my favorite parts of a song. A good nasty bassline makes your ass want to move before your mind has a chance to catch up.

piano: Church or the 1950s

It's according to how it's played. If it's played in a depressing way, I think of church. If it's played in an uptempo way, I think of artists like Little Richard, Fats Domino, or Jerry Lee Lewis.

accoutic guitar: Depressed, Bored, and Lonely.

I think of boring folk music with people sitting around a campfire roasting marshmallows and singing "Kumbaya". I also think of John Denver whose music depresses the living hell out of me. I also think of "Hee Haw". This instrument, especially when a song is totally stripped down and "unplugged", reminds me of the depressing side of my childhood.

rock guitar: Anger.

I love to throw on some heavy metal when I'm mad as hell.

blues guitar: Kind of Depressing.

It's according to how it's played. Sometimes I like it if it's used in an uptempo way, but being from Mississippi, where they have absolutely worn the blues out, I get sick of hearing it.

horns: Funky, Jazzy, Corny Las Vegasy, or The Army.

This instrument reminds me of all sorts of things that I both love and hate. It's just according to how it's used and who is using it. The good side is, I love the way the horns were used in the 1970s and some of the early 1980s funk. However, I do not like to hear Prince use horns because I originally knew him as someone with a more futuristic appeal that had moved on to the next level. I prefer Prince using synths in the place of horns. I like each of my favorite artists for particular things.

Horns also make me think of jazz which I can kind of deal with and actually kind of like some of it but not enough to buy it.

Horns also make me think of corny Las Vegas shows which I don't like. Horns also make me think of the army, which I absolutely can't stand. If I had been a teenager in the 1960s, I would have been a draft dodger. I agree with Prince's "Partyup" all the way.

drums: Rhythm.

Another one of my favorite instruments. Drums, like bass, make your ass want to move before your mind has a chance to catch up. Handclaps are another one of my favorites that is missing in today's music.

electric drums: Futuristic, Artificial, Fake, Amateurish, or Cheap

It's according to how they are used. I love the futuristic feel of the drum machines that groups like Prince, The Egyptian Lover, Midnight Star, The Jonzun Crew, Pretty Tony & Freesytle, or Kraftwerk used. The drum machines beat hard and were very funky. However, I hate what they later became. They barely tap and sound very amateurish and cheap.

A lot of ppl also find strings depresive - interesting.

I find stripped down music extremely dull. The kind of music to just sit still and listen to. I like my music lively, energetic, and fun. That kind that you can't sit still to.

me too. I agree with Prince when he said "music should uplift you". I do like some sad songs, but I prefer joyful ones.

I prefer Clapton´s unplugged, although Nirvana is cool as well. Yeah, there are some exceptions, but in general accustic guitar gives me no particular feelings and is the most boring instrument.

I get annoyed with horns because they usually just blast away and the rest of the orchestra gets drowned out. rolleyes
