Uh...Bone and Chin? I don't think so. Chin hasn't had enough under his belt to make ANY list and Bone Thugs, like DasFX ,was a gimmick...and their shit was pretty weak overall.

Jin is the illest in the game right now, no commercial success but his new album is the most "real" hiphop in years. Check it out, it's called "Jin presents : The Emcee's Propa?Ganda"

Bone were ill, the flow was original and sick. Tha Crossroads, Thug Luv, Notorious Thugs, For The Love Of $, Thuggish Ruggish Bone, 1st of the month, those are all hiphop classcs. Bizzy Bone is the only rapper to ever flow next to Pac, Big, and Eazy and outshine them all. Sick as hell.

From what I heard from Jin, I'm not impressed and I grew up on the real Hip Hop.

As for Bone, they basically stole DasFX's style and just added vocals...I wasn't impressed, especially with their content.

Rah claims Lauryn stole her style. And they do sound awfully similar.

Eh, I don't really know what "Hip Hop" is, it's all Rap to me. "Hip Hop" was a phrase that got thrown around alot in the early 90's and for some reason stuck. But here's some good rap acts...

De La Soul (De La Soul Is Dead is classic)
A Tribe Called Quest
The Jungle Brothers
Leaders Of The New School
The Pharcyde
Boogie Down Productions
Gangstarr (though I like the Jazmatazz stuff even more)
Public Enemy
Nas
Tupac

I know im forgetting alot, but its a start...

I've heard something from the majority of those artists.

confuse Still confused by the difference in terminology though (rap vs hip-hop).

Hip-Hop is Rapping, Deejaying, Breaking and Graffiti art. Recently any movement or fad in young Black culture is labeled as hip-hop, but early on those four things comprised the term "Hip-hop".

Rap is one element of hip-hop that includes spoken word, beat boxing or Mcing.

I'm sure Cincee could give you a better definition, but that's pretty much it.

Yeah, rap is like the watered down, step child version of Hip Hop. The music genre that's usually full of pop appeal. The Will Smiths, Hammers - Low risk shit. Hip Hop incorporates a lot of music genres: Jazz, R&B, and Rock - Usually conscious/street-wise/gritty-witty lyrics, no fluff: Your Mos Defs, Talib Kwelis, Rakims-types.

Actually, the phrase/term "Hip Hop" can be heard on the records of the early Rap pioneers back in the Late 70s/Early 80s.
