Debbie Harry :: Koo Koo (1981) Anyone have this album or has heard it? How are the tracks? I read it was unpopular, but I'm mainly interested in the Nile Rodgers produced material on it. What songs do you recommend, if any?

I got it back in the days, but haven't listened to it in ages... I can't remember any track by name, except for the single "Backfired" which was a classic 'Nard & Nile production.. funky! loved it but for other songs I'd have to re-check to pick you some memorable ones Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

Wasn't this the same song remade/revamped by Masters at Work?

Wasn't this the same song remade/revamped by Masters at Work? They had a song with India called "Backfired" buuuuut I don't think it's the same.

Koo Koo is my favorite of Debbie's solo efforts. She was clearly enamored with urban grooves at the time as the funk comes to the foreground. It is definitely of-the-time production, but I like all of the songs.
That said, I am a huge fan of Debbie Harry and I may overrate her work. However, I find this to be the most enjoyable of her solo efforts. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

Although not in a completely traditional sense, Koo Koo definitely achieves that new wave/funk vibe. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! All true, I'm just sorta "meh" on the results.

All true, I'm just sorta "meh" on the results. I'm a Debbie fanatic, so I may overrate it as I mentioned. But I'll be damned if I don't groove to that disc. I'm a die hard Chic fan and I don't really like this album. The grooves that Nard, Nile and Tony created are tight but Deb's voice isn't strong enough to flow with that vibe IMO.

After all this talk about this cd, I decided to give it another listen and it's not bad but not great either. It's weird I feel like I want to like it so much more but as I said before something is missing. It's weird how her solo career never really took off like the way Gwen Stefani's has.

I don't have it, but I do know that H.R. Giger did the cover artwork. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Standards are lower these days, that's all. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

oh shit! makes sense though. You know art credits don't get onto the cassette cover card. Hell production and song writing credits don't even get printed.

Yeah, there's a whole section in one of my Giger books about his work with Debbie Harry, including pics of her photo shoot for this.
