Kylie Touches My Inner Gay

With all of the comparisons of Maddy to Kylie and some of you go on and on about her...I had to check her out. It's not like I don't know who she is...I was dancing to I should be so lucky (lucky lucky lucky) back when...and I know she's worked with Towa Tei..but I never got exposed to her.

I have only heard a few songs and I have to say there are many comparisons/similarities to both (it's apparent that Kylie did COADF before Maddy and Bedtime Stories after) I do like what I have heard so far. I picked up Fever and have heard a few off of Body in Motion. The production is really good. The only thing that is taking a while to get used to is her honey dripping sugary sweet voice.

Any recommendations by you Kylie fans? I only have Fever. and I like Can't get you outta my head and Come into my world. I like that song she did a video for (I don't know the song...it was on those video comps of Spike Jones et al...the one where copies of her keep appearing and the video loops upon itself (it's very clever)

'If You Don't Love Me', her cover of the Prefab Sprout song.

The acoustic versions of 'Confide In Me' and 'Put Yourself In My Place'.

Can't forget 'Where The Wild Roses Grow' either. For some reason that's been cut from the US version of Hits+ and is only on Nick Caves's 'Murder Ballads' album.

I have that track on Nick's own greatest hits album. It's doubly good.

Must have been an import then biggrin

The UK/European version has 2 extra tracks... although for some reason my copy doesn't have 'This Girl' on it eek I only have that on the Impossible Princess special edition.

I hate it when albums keep getting re-releases with new tracks added on neutral

If you like Fever, try out Light Years. It's even more camp and more gay! Body Language is a must as an album. Great, solid work!

I think half of Fever is shite. Rhythm of Love is much better, and KM94 is right behind Light Years in my rankings at the moment.

Very cool and electic (could've used more "Impossible Princess" songs). I bought it as an import right before it was released domestically but it was worth it. I love the unreleased tracks "Difficult By Design" and "Gotta Move On". I looked up the producers and really liked their style but I don't think they've done that much.

Nearly certain it's on "Ultimate Kylie".

I forgot about 'Ultimate Kylie'. It's the only album of hers I never bought cos there are about 5 different compilations on the market and I already have the others. I did buy the DVD though, which is much better than the cheap Greatest Hits from a few years ago.

Since yesterday I used all my replies I'll recommend some great albums 4 super. Get These and feel the real Kylie:

Kylie's best album and the less pop sounding ever! She wrote all her lyrics! Features master pieces as Dreams or Too Far!

A compilation of DeCon years features rare and unreleased tune such as This Girl or Take Me With You. Buy the Uk version that feature more tracks.

When going P2P find these:

Sometime Samurai
Made of Glass
I believe in you
GBI

Also for the ultimate live experience get this:

And Kylie is not a gay thing!

Body Language is her best in my opinion.

Impossible Princess is good too.

The rest are a bit too disco for me... and yeah, her vocals are pretty squeaky at times... she's not the greatest singer in the world, but that's not all of her appeal.

I find the 'Ultimate Live' DVD to be terribly dated now. That was a stage of her career where even she was unsure of who she was or where she fitted into the music scene (and before you ask, yes, I love 'Kylie Minogue' aka: 'Impossible Princess', and have followed her career since she was in Australian soap 'Neighnours', and even remember her in The Sullivans in the seventies!) I just feel that 'Ultimate Live' really doesn't show Kylie off to her very best of her abilities. Musically, the band is very drab and the show lacklustre, being a very small budget affair and unfortunately, it shows (although the dancers are worth a peek!) drooling

My advice spaceboy,is to check out the following:

KylieFever2002:

The kind of concert you thought only ever existed in your dreams - this has it ALL. The spectacle, the glamour, the wow factor omg (her stage entrance will floor you, and takes some beating), and above all else the following essentials in any killer show: A super-tight band, right-on-the-money vocals, and (unlike the 'Showgirl' tour (which was good but...) the choreography doesn't detract, but adds to the overall experience. It's also increadibly well filmed - I was lucky enough to be at this very show with friends on the floor, and to have such a kick-ass DVD as this is just a perfect memento and contains some great DVD extras like a documentary showing how the tour was concieved, through to going out on the road with it.

I rate it 10 out of 10, and it was awarded a critics choice award in 2002 as the music dvd of the year.

Highlights include:
Come Into My World (intro)
Shocked (A wild Electro version no less!)
Spinning Around
The Crying Game (this actually made me cry at the show!) lol
Confide In Me
Locomotion (!!!)
Light Years
Better The Devil You Know
Can't Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head
and my personal highlight of the show the awesome party atmosphere of
Cowboy Style.
Buy this DVD - you really can't go wrong! (it was also released as a limited edition containing a 70-minute CD version of the show)

Body Language Live:

This was a very special, one-night only show that cost over one million pounds to put on, and boy, does it ever show! When you stop and realise the pressure that not only Kylie, but the band, dancers, and show staff must have been under when this was a very much a 'one-shot' affair...and then factor into that that the show was being professionaly filmed for future release - none of them show it or screw up. It's pretty amazing in that respect, and they all should be commended.

The show itself is stepped up another notch from the Fever tour, and retains her super-tight knit band, plus a bevvy of very delectable dancers, and another great stage entrance.

Highlights include:
Still Standing (sounds absolutely amazing live and really should have been a single)
On A Night Like This
Breathe/Je'Taime
Chocolate
Slow
Secret (Take You Home)
and quite possibly THE definitive version of Can't Get You Out Of My Head.

10 out of 10 - Again, buy it!

('Kylie Live In Sydney' is also good, but smaller scale, lower budget (which is not to say that's a bad thing) but overall a good, fun and campy show based around the 'Light Years' album - I'd give that DVD/tour 8 out of 10

I made a mix of B-Sides and bonus tracks but I can't find it!

It was 74 minutes long and I called it "More Besides". It was a pun on "B-Sides".

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I shared it here and I'm wondering if anybody could share it back as I've lost it!!!

I swear they miss out a few songs on the Fever tour DVD. I remember more when I went to the show.

The best concert DVD for setlist has to be Live In Sydney... just because she does loads of my fav 'Light Years' album tracks music
