If Jamie hadn't won that Oscar....

would "Unpredictable" been at the top of the charts??? would he had been taken seriously with this album, had he been Oscarless???
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I dunno, but I hope its success will give him cause to put more thought into his next project. He's talented, but uninspired musically.

I don't think Jaime Foxx is that good of a singer. Especially in live circumstances. I like unpredictable though because of Ludacris. When I first heard the song on the radio I thought it was a ludacris song with some generic singer on it because his vocals (Jaime Foxx) just doesn't stand out.

No, he would not have the promotion behind him or the notoriety. Prior to the Oscar, he was a decent actor and a better comedian. IMO, most people who pay attention to him today never watched his TV show, never saw Booty Call , may only remember him for doing Wanda on In Living Color . Add to that he fact his first album was made ten years ago and was a minor RnB hit. It's safe to say that the Oscar score has put him on the A list of celebrityhood and only a bonehead move on his part will fuck that up.

I wasn't speaking of his vocal talent, I guess. He's just okay in that department. He studied classical piano at Juilliard.

I can't imagine it would have been this successful. The music and his image is right in line with the typical male R&B singer. When I see him in the sunglasses, two giant diamond earrings surrounded by women it's just too 'predictable' and boring for words. Unpredictable is catchy song and perhaps worth a single purchase but not the whole album.

i don't know if jamie is just an "ok" actor. I recall many being surprised that he didn't nominated for his work in ALI. I think he's grown in that area and I'm sure he'll grow musically.

my gues is "no" it wouldn't be, even w/ his collaborators. his past record sales have been modest - respectable at best. and he's had a few radio hits but nothing that would suggest or justify the sales of the new one. the music, the bits that i've heard, aren't breaking any new ground, even for him as a composer. twocents

somehow i think this "unpredictable" was meant 2 test the waters. i mean he held his own with and won the approval ray charles who was a human encyclopedia of music, so there's really no tellin what he might bust out with next.

I don't think so....I remember when he had a CD out right after he left In Living Color. I think it was called "Peep This", and it was a flop.

After he won the Oscar, I saw the cd selling for over $100 on ebay. eek

If he hadn't won an Oscar, it would still sell better then Peep This, which charted 172 Pop / 12 Rn'B if I'm not mistaken. When Peep This came out, In Living Color had just been cancled (because dumb a$$ FOX let go of the Wayans, it was their show) and in 1995, Jamie wasn't doin' nothing, even Boty Call was 2 years a way from being released.

With Unpredictable, even if he hadnt won anything, he is more well known now. Any Given Sunday, Ali, hosting MTV and ESPYs among others.

Jamie on In Living Color was funny as hell. Yesterday on BET, he as Wanda went on a blind date with Ugly Luther (played by Marlon Wayans).
