I like some of their stuff. I'd probably love a good best of by them. I used to have one when I was much younger, but I wasn't in a place musically to appreciate them at the time like I am now.....

Thing about Cameo is... they span the 70s and 80s and their sound changed, so 1 disc can't really cover it all. All great songs though, Andrew. highfive

Get yourself a turntable and start looking for their vinyl albums because none of the compilations do them justice. biggrin

Hell yeah. Loved Cameo forever. Onr of THE best funk bands to ever exist. A lot of the cuts that I dig have already been listed. I'll add three BANGIN' cuts that most folks sleep on;

I Just Want To Be
Alligator Woman (the song)
Keep It Hot

oh yeah, Cameo BROUGHT the funk
(& I imagine that they still do- I'd be ready to pay "almost whatever" to see them again)..

to me their best tracks are :

keep it hot
I just want to be
cameosis
shake your pants
- EXCELLENT performance video, got it from a funk website in French..
be yourself
flirt
single life
candy

alligator woman

we're going out tonight
why have I lost you
- ORIGINAL version

& there's 1 other very early song.. I don't remember the title but in it they sing "we are here to funk funk".. or something like that..
THIS was the 1st Cameo song I remember hearing.. YEARS ago

"word up" was okay as I song, but I don't like it because they PLAYED IT TO DEATH when it came out in '86. after the 1st 10 MILLION TIMES they played it on the radio.. that was enough for me.

I've heard very little of their albums after the 1 with "you make me work"..
I know there was "emotional violence" & maybe a few other cd's, but I have not heard those at all.
worth getting any/some of those cd's from 1990 on???
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

Yup, that's "Funk Funk" from the "Cardiac Arrest" album (1977)

? I love word up, those snares are crazy, but some of their stuff is set in that same mid-tempo groove. If u love that groove, then obviously, u'll love cameo.
