This came in the mail today:

Live and Early Singles - Trouble Funk

(a 2 disc steal at ten bucks new)

and I picked this up on Sunday:

One Down, One Up: Live at the Half Note [LIVE] - John Coltrane Quartet

the sound of gods. nod radio broadcasts recorded at the Half Note in 1965 remastered from Coltrane's own tape copies (produced by son Ravi Coltrane).

Yes "Jealousy" is on there! I actually listened to that on the drive to work today. It's totally Rick James songs with female vocalists following his guidetracks because they are always bending their melodies and adlibs the exact same way.

Mary Jane Girls are to Rick James as Jill Jones is to Prince.

I always equate them with Vanity 6. Same vibe. Dirty lyrics, skanky clothes, piles of hair and nasty funk!
