John Legend

Help me out. Why is everyone making such a big deal about him. Am I missing something? I see nothing special about him at all. There is nothing original about him. What is the deal?

Maybe not "original" in breaking musical ground, but he writes new songs of his own and they're good.

Most of these newer stars derive their style from stars of the past, who of course derived their style from their forbears, et cetera. I don't have Legend's album, and maybe I'm sleeping. But I can't fault him for his influences.

It's really quite simple-the man can sing, write and just generally has SOUL cool There are not alot of artist who can make you feel like that through their music anymore, except Prince razz

get your water from the well. fuck the imitations. stars today love pretending that they are the modern 'insert star name'. its as if they are playing make believe in their own superstar world.

I bought his album when it came out. I've listened to it a few times and enjoy it. Generally speaking, it's easier to express why you dislike somebody than it is to relate why they are pleasing to you. For those reasons, you're naturally going to see more hate from people. John Legend is a decent performer. He's certainly not doing anything extraordinary, but he's done nothing that warrants the disdain for him in these parts.
