Your most UNDERRATED album in recent memory

I say

"THE BEEKEEPER"

I can't believe that shit got NO grammy nods. None, zilch, zip, zero. And Gwen and Mariah did...it's a sad day. Anyway Tori's latest has so much rich melody, big catchy chorus, diverse rhythms, sweeter than hell vocals, and every song is a grower. It gets better with age like a nice red wine.

What's yours?

Depeche Mode - Ultra

After Violator, DM took a detour from the synth driven path that they'd been following for the past 10 years and started putting grungy guitars and industrial beats in their music. Many long-time fans were less than enthused about the change, though. Songs of Faith and Devotion probably lost a significant portion of their fanbase, and I'd imagine that Ultra did nothing to reverse the trend.

However, the album is sublime! They married a post-industrial, post-grunge sound with an electro-jazz vibe and made probably the second best album of their career. Lyrically, Mr. Gore also was hitting new peaks of brilliance: "Barrel of a Gun", "Sister of Night", "Home", "The Bottom Line", "Insight", "Love Thieves" - incredible stuff.

Unfortunately, with their new critical resurgence, Ultra gets glossed over or ripped apart in reviews. It's unfortunate, because they'll probably never hit this level of excellence again. I'll never understand how Playing the Angel is considered to be superior to this masterpiece.

Insane. Insane. The only guy I've ever heard whose live vocals rival Prince's for sheer mastery, control, range and dynamics. Kid sang and danced for two hours, plus took a turn on every instrument and directed a choir. I know it's gospel and thus won't get as much love from radio, but I'm tellin you, no matter who you think is singin right now, Tonex is the next Prince.

O2 is hot, but it's heavily MJ influenced. Out The Box is where he gets princely. Stand out tracks: God has not forgot, Why and Alive ver 2.0. I'm tellin you, man. Crazy.
