SOTT VS Michael Jackson's Ghosts

I was going to post this in the Music: Prince Forum but I didn't think there would be much of a contest. I realize it is hard to compare the 2, seeing as one is mainly concert footage and the other is like a "mini-movie musical." However, if you guys had to pick one, which would you pick and why?

Thanks in advance for the responses..

Well this is just unfair. SHA-MON!

Compare Grafitti Bridge to Ghosts...
Compare 3 Chains O Gold to Moonwalker

These are better.

Anyway Sign O The TImes is my pick. Ghosts is not really a concert movie. Though it is a fun and campy film, Sign O The Times shows more of Prince's live talent than actin skills.

Really no comparison

Haven´t seen SOTT yet. boxed Gotta check it out, cause I love Prince live.

I love Ghost though. MJ´s BEST movie effort. His dancing and acting are phenomenal. Really cool.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I never saw SOTT (I know I'm a lousy P fam!)...but I have seen Ghost!

So, as the .org's closeted MJ fan, I have 2 give Ghosts the victory...4 now!

Why did you come up with such a comparison in the first place? smile

I don't see absolutely anything in common with those two films. My pick would of course be SOTT, but "Ghosts" wasn't as bad as some folks would like it to be.

Honestly, because "Ghosts" was my favorite Michael Jackson performance captured on film, and same with SOTT by Prince.

Can't compare the two because I haven't seen Ghosts. Michael was the greatest entertainer of his time, but I can't imagine that Ghosts would match SOTT (which I don't consider a "pure" concert film). When I saw it as a teenager, SOTT confirmed my belief that Prince was the greatest popular musician on the planet. And I still believe that. It would be hard for me to see Ghosts and think it's better than SOTT because I'm too set in my ways on that.

I really really liked Ghosts. SOTT is a completely different animal. Its more of a live-ish concert with skits added wheras Ghosts was more of a mini film. It was great and the choreography was "off the wall' or rather, on the wall. lol It was fun. SOTT was a lot more "grown up". I call no contest. Too different to compare. I think SOTT was Prince's best concert piece. Rave and all of the others pale in comparison.
I think a closer comparison would be MJ's Ghosts vs. Prince's 3 Chains Of Gold.

Ghosts? Some of yall liked Ghosts?

Whoa.

In defense of that idea, it was the best acting Mike has ever done.

But it was also the worst megavideo ever. Ever. If I were Talib Kweli, I woulda slapped Mos Def for taking part in it. It was an hour or more of the same 12 people standin in the same position in the same parlor watchin zombies dance to basically the same song over and over and asking if it was scary yet. Shit, I was scared when the bitch stretched his jaw out. Emmanuel Lewis didn't sleep for months after that. Rockin in the corner, huggin hisself havin flashbacks and shit.

i LOVE ghosts and sott and it is just WRONG for these two to be compared. sott is a concert tape so it should probably be compared with bucarest

Ghosts is good but U cant compare it SOTT. SOTT is a live concert/movie with very little acting and Ghosts is a movie, kinda like a musical. But SOTT blows that shit out of the water of course.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Oh, then it sort of makes sense. But I still say SOTT by a long mile.
