Are you a Male or Female vocalist person?

I just noticed that the majority of my favorite songs, cds, and artists are all female or groups that have female vocalists.

I would say that only about 20% of my ipod songs or my favorite cds are by male vocalists. From Prince to rock, R.E.M., Dave Matthews, George Michael, Marvin Gaye etc. I have a lot of their songs (if you count numbers), but the artist or group in general is low compared to the females.

Its about 80% - 20%, female to male

Do most men like female vocalists? Do most women like male vocalists?
What is your take? confuse

Generally speaking, the female voice moves me more. Just my preference.

Doesn't have to be a band. but: (Atlantic Starr, Starpoint, Go-Go's, Heart, Brand New Heavies, Martha Wash and the Weathers Girls, Esthero, No Doubt, Klymaxx, Mary Jane Girls, Luscious Jackson, Indigo Girls, TLC, Everything But the Girl, EnVogue, Salt n Pepa, Destiny's Child, Zhane etc.)

But female vocalists

Madonna, Janet, Mariah, Kelly Clarson, Brandy, Aaliyah, Donna Summer, Wynonna, Whitney, Vivian Green, Tina Turner, Stephanie Mills, Sheila E., Sheena Easton, Peebles, Missy, Natasha Bedingfield, Mary J., Lisa Stansfield, Leela James, Lauryn Hill, Kylie, Jody Watley, Jill Scott, Aretha, Jennifer Holiday, Jem, India Aire, Grace Jones, Erykah Badu, Diana Ross, Cyndi Lauper, Aquilera, Cherelle, Cher, Chante Moore, Britney, Beyonce, Avril, Alanis etc.

I probably have tracks by 35 male singers or groups from Prince to Inxs, Jamiroquai to the Stones. Do you get what I am preaching?

Probably 60 % Male

More of the stuff by bands would be male and more of the solo artists would be female.

I would say mine is probably more female to male but not by much. I love a good rock album (I would agree with Axchi...female solo and male bands) and really like classic rock, but female pop is more accessible and easier to talk about. I just put some Zeppellin on my Ipod...in general I'm rediscovering a lot of great stuff in my CD collection.

Probably split down the middle in terms of music I own, but far more of my favourite bands and artists are male.

I do prefer the male singing voice because I find that in general, any woman who can hold a note has the chance of "making it", but for a man to truly excel and have longevity in his career, it's usually because he's got a rather distinctive voice, like it needs to be something special and unique.

A quick answer would be..I am a male vocalist person.

To explain..or just rant a bit..

My top 3 favorite singers are men. Michael, George, and Billy Joel. However, while Prince isn't one of my favorite vocalists, he is my number two man on guitar. (Santana is number one in my book, as over-rated as he probably is these days.)

But for me..female vocalists are good when they have a certain voice. My favorite female vocalists are..Selena, Kylie, Janet, Avril, Christina, the blond chic from A*Teens and the singer from Atomica. I think for me to like a female vocalist they must offer something unique. As much of a pop princess Christina may be, you can't deny she has a BANGIN' voice.

When I was younger, I admired female vocalists much more than males. I was a little too biased back then. I guess it was becasue I could pretend as if I was the female singer more so than the male. Now I just appreciate good vocalists....even though my overall favorite is a female. smile

Women, cause too many men front bands.

If I see another video with an ugly guy screaming about how angry he is, I'll puke. It's so boring. The female bands or female-fronted bands that are out there don't get the exposure that they deserve. Rock radio has already given up on them by making their playlists 100% male.

LADIES FIRST!

Nobody can be as, if not more sensitive than or evoke an emotion better than a WOMAN.

The hormones that people have been dogging us about, are the same hormones that put our emotions out-there.

Women are more expressive, musically, acting-wise and art-wise.

At least IMHO anway shrug

Perhaps, but they are just as deserving to be heard as their crappy male counterparts that get airtime.

And they aren't even the worst ones out there. (I actually like some of their videos.) But just looking at the latest Billboard modern rock chart, I can't believe horrible bands like 311 and Staind are still getting airplay.
