Micheal Jackson on GTA(Playstation)

Once again,I must admit MJ is more popular than Prince.
My son brought his Playstation with him, when he stayed
in our home 4 the holydays. He bought a game from his stephbrother
and he said there are some songs on it from MJ!

I also recognised some songs from Mötley Crue and others but the fact is,my son already knows who MJ is,while I'm trying 2 let him know who Prince is!!
Sometimes I play a song in the car or at home, but what are my chances against
a playstation game sad And he had heard about Micheal be4 when the court case was on
Children News.

I also like the MJ songs but what I'm trying 2 say here;
he will always be better known than Prince because he's everywhere!!Damn biggrin

Michael's talent has been for a long time overshadowed by his "freakshow" persona. All of this was brought on by himself....he will NEVER get back to the pedestal where he once was. Even Elvis changed his talent and kept up with the times. Michael will FOREVER be an '80's pop icon, nothing more. Even most of his biggest "hits" were in collaboration with another writer/producer. Not trying to "diss" your like for Mike, but his talent is no match for the Purple One. Not even close!!!!

MJ's on the soundtrack from Vice City twice, I think. The GTA soundtracks are awesome. Check out Vice City.....Kate Bush is on there omg Kate Bush!....on a video game soundtrack. It really is a diverse soundtrack.....a diverse 80's soundtrack....80's R&B, 80's metal, new wave, latin, funk, hip hop. Kurtis Blow's The Breaks is on there.....oh god so many good songs. It's really one of the best soundtracks I know....who would've thought one of my favorite soundtracks came from a video game. The discs are divided into the different genres and they have interludes with DJs which makes it seem like you're listening to a real radio station. smile GTA loves Rick James too.....he's on the San Andreas and Vice city soundtracks. San Andreas doesn't even compare to Vice City. I mean it's not bad....it's just not as diverse as Vice City.

San Andreas has more stuff in it, but it lacks Vice's spark. I'd love for a GTA game to take place in the 80's and be the size of San An.
I also maintain that "Little Red Corvette" should of been in it. There is a Corvette knock-off in it after all.

Yeah....I just love Vice City's 80's vibe. San Andreas has a lot of new jack swing on it.....uh oh....where's sexofit. lol I don't actually own S.A, but I've heard most of what's on the soundtrack before. I'm glad to see Toots and the Maytals on there.....two of my favorite songs by them actually. One thing that San Andreas had that Vice City didn't were reggae and country songs, so I guess it still is pretty diverse. I'm just playing favorites with Vice City. Whoever's putting these soundtracks together are doing a hell of a job. smile

Please stop comparing Michael to Prince. They aren't equal. If you want to compare...while Prince is amazing no doubt in my mind, he isn't in the rock and roll hall of fame twice. He did not have NUMBER 1 album debuts in the 80s, 90s and 2000's. As much as you want to write Michael off as being an 80's wonderman, Invincible did do well on the billboard charts. Michael is beyond Prince. Michael is beyond Madonna. Michael is a living legend. He is one of the most searched people on the internet. Partly because of his "freakshow" persona but also because his talent is not matched by anyone, even a certain purple one who comes DAMN close! smile

I love MJ but guess what? NEWSFLASH!! Sales don't equal talent. Ask Ashlee Simpson. So quit throwing out sales as an indicator of MJ's greatness. They also sell petrified poop and people buy it. As long as we are playing the numbers game, compare these- Prince's output to MJ's, Prince's ability to play/produce/write songs to MJ's, Prince's Academy Award's to MJ's? See? It's stupid. Numbers don't equal greatness-it's all in your mouth.

Elvis was a sad fat bloater who died on his toilet at 42 with nowhere near the baggage MJ is lumbered with, and MJ oulasted him already, by 5 yrs and counting.

i personally hate quoting stats so won't go into the P/MJ thing. i'd just say MJ is still really a very relevant artist, turn on the tv, and you see lots of cats biting off him and he still gets his props too.

for a real world view of his relevance, my team at work contains a dozen people, three have seen MJ live, eight own albums by the man (of which four would consider buying his next album) and everybody likes at least one song by him. age range 18-55.

only i like Prince though.

wink

Why would Prince be in the RRHOF twice? Michael was a member of a true band and a solo artist, Prince was always Prince or Prince with a backing band.

Also, sales, chart stats, and internet searches don't equal talent. Never have, and never will. Why is it that whenever Michael Jackson is called into question, his fans bring up sales, charitable donations, and the like? Depeche Mode, REM, Arcade Fire, and U2 can't get songs on the radio nowadays and I don't think it calls their talent into question at all. It's just a sad commentary on modern music. The charts are meaningless and don't measure much of anything other than what has been forced into our consciousness by record labels.

And 'I Ran So Far Away' by Flock of Seagulls is also on one of the GTA games, and they are mentioned in Pulp Fiction and on Friends. They must still be socially relevant and bigger than Prince.
