And I don't know if I just can't remember Shalamar's heyday... but wasn't Jody Watley like WAY MORE POPULAR solo? No wonder they haven't reunited.

Howard wanted to go solo and He had that hit I'm for Real, Jody came out soon after and had bigger pop hits, It's cause she was fine.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Hewitt's ego is what sunk the group. Remember they had that lanky dude before Mikki Free? He was kicked out, moved to England and hosted a dance show or something. Used to be married to Stephanie Mills. Mills, by the way, had nothing but bad things to say about Hewitt at the time.

Jody left to go solo before howard. Rumor has it that he told her that she wouldn't make it and she's been pissed ever since that's why there's been no reunion even though Jeffery is very willing as well. But ya'll trippin' to diss Howard as if he has NO talent. To be honest, Shalamar needed them both. If howard left first, it wouldn't have been the same either. Also Jeffery wasn't "Kicked out". I"m thinking he was a cocky ass bastard and that's why Jody and Jeffery left to go solo.

Howard does gospel now.

Used to beat the fuck out of Stephanie Mills. I remember Jet magazine had her on this issue long ago talking about the physical/mental/verbal abuse she endured from Jeff.

Howie had the voice and the looks that lead the band to its greatest successes.

He also had a few other...umm...issues.

He is a great vocalist and has turned his life over to God. Thankfully, he changed his life around and is now an all-around nice guy.

He is seriously underrated as a performer.

You know, I'd never even heard of Jody Watley until talking on the net a couple of years ago and seeing her mentioned.

His words were "Howard did something to Jody that a man should never to a woman." He didn't go into length about the details. He said he and Howard were open to reunite with Jody to tour, but Jody refused. Whatever happened must have been really bad.

i disagree--howard's a vocalist--jody's a performer--and one who based her career on a certain image that she no longer has (old girl has put on a few pounds around the hips)...he has more albums than she does, not to mention when you think of the hits of shalamar--he's on lead vocal. she's andrew ridgley, he's george michael
