Dreamgirls Footage Check out this featurette on the upcoming Dreamgirls film. I believe it's an extended version of what's already up on the movie Web site. Good footage of the recording of the movie soundtrack, including a snippet of Jennifer Hudson really belting And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going. I'm so excited for this one.

What's especially annoying about this is that the middle girl - Anika Noni Rose - is a real talent. She won the damn Tony in 2004! Jennifer can blow, and I'm glad she's in the film, but probably the only reason she's getting the little attention she has thus far is because the hubbub around her stint on American Idol. I couldn't care less about Beyonce in this film. She's just playing herself, really! It's all about Anika and J-Hud for me. ... [Edited 1/27/06 6:43am]

What did Anika play in Carolyn or Change? I saw it, but the night I saw it Tonya Pinkins was out so the understudy played hte lead role (she later won a Tony for her small role in the play Doubt).
Oh wait....was she the daughter in COC? That would make sense. Cuz the other supporting actresses (e.g. the Moon, The Washing Machine) were much older. I didn't realize the daughter won a Tony, I thought just Tonya did. I love the part Lorrell in Dreamgirls. esp the song Aint No Party. Too bad she doesn't have more to sing. It sounds like they're keeping hte music pretty close to the orignial score. I really hope so.

If I'm not mistaken, Anika Noni Rose's win for Best Featured Actress in a Musical was the production's only win. It was nominated for several (I can't recall the exact number).
