It is amazingly good! After a second album that had them lose their cool, they are now back with an album that rocks a lil' more without losing the substance that made their debut album so well-loved.

My fist fave track is Vision Of Division cuz of the loud guitars, that make me a very happy man.

It is really silly to say, but I hear a bit of The Beatles back in their songwriting. The Strokes are just masters in writing awfully good tunes. Even though as my 11 year old nephew so nicely pointed out; 'all their songs kind of start the same, don't they?' Hehehe.

I agree with everything you posted other than saying they lost their cool with Room on Fire. That remains my favorite Strokes album.

I'm loving the direction they are taking with this new album, though. My early favorites are "Ask Me Anything", their most unabashed display of beauty to date, "Ize of the World", which may be their most emotional song to date, and the chugging "Juicebox", their heaviest song to date!

I think where as their second album was a bit too much of a departure from their first album, this third is mixing the both into a firm mix of the Strokes we loved on the first and the second that puzzled us, or at least me.

I love this mix, truly do.

I got a promo copy of this a few months before the release date. The first track is good (even though it sounds like the Cramps). Everything else is S-H-I-T. The Strokes are nothing but a recycling machine of re-hashed ideas and substandard songs that emphasize style over substance.
