Madonna "Forbidden Love" (1994) vs. "Forbidden Love" (2005)---which do you prefer?

Same title, same lyrical theme, but two entirely different songs.Which song is superior....the sexy, sultry 'Bedtime Stories' track featuring Babyface or the new,synth-heavy electropop 'COADF' track?

hmmm

94 by far. Although I like the new song, it still is my least favorite on the album, while the 94 song is one of my very faves on Bedtime Stories.

"Forbidden Love" (2005)

(Madonna/S.Price)

just one kiss on my lips was all it took to seal the future
just one look from your eyes was like a certain kind of torture

Once upon a time, there was a boy and there was a girl

just one touch from your hands was all it took to make me falter

Forbidden Love, are we supposed to be together?
Forbidden Love,forbidden love
Forbidden Love,we save our destiny forever
Forbidden Love,forbidden love

just one smile on your face was all it took to change my fortune
just one word from your mouth was all I needed to be certain

Once upon a time, there was a boy and there was a girl
hearts that intertwine, they lived in a different kind of world

Forbidden Love, are we supposed to be together?
Forbidden Love,forbidden love
Forbidden Love,we save our destiny forever
Forbidden Love,forbidden love

just one kiss, just one touch, just one look

Forbidden Love, are we supposed to be together?
Forbidden Love,forbidden love
Forbidden Love,we save our destiny forever
Forbidden Love,forbidden love

Forbidden Love, are we supposed to be together?
Forbidden Love,forbidden love
Forbidden love,we save our destiny forever
Forbidden Love,forbidden love

just one kiss, just one kiss, just one look, just one love (5,4,3,2,1)

it's a tough choice for me,I love both songs lol

The 1994 song is a little more sexier though,so it wins.I still think it should have been a single.

madonna.com confirmed she is not performing at the Brits, however she is attending to present an award.

How disappointing.

Sheesh! That's a tough choice!

But... I think it's the 'Bedtime Stories' version which gets it. I love that album.

1994, definitely.

I've been listening to a lot of Bedtime Stories lately, and I've been surprised at how well the album has aged. I think it's easily one of Madonna's most underrated albums.

Forbidden Love '94 should've been a single. The video would've been fire, the song would've been huge, and Maddy could've racked up another #1 (or at least Top 10) hit. Gotta say that I respect her for going against the grain with the post-Take a Bow singles, though. Instead of taking the easy way out, Madonna gave the public what she wanted.

The new cut is alright, defintely not one of the album's best tracks. Not among the worst songs on the disc, either. Just doesn't compare to the BS track.

it's funny...when I first heard the COADF album,I wasn't crazy about "Forbidden Love",I thought it was too slow and boring. But now,it's one of my favorite tracks on the album.I love the somber, haunting melody and that little percolating beat we hear throughout. It's probably the closest thing to a ballad on this album.I also like how it segues into "Jump".

I agree,it really should have been a single. It would have made sense. The previous collaboration with Babyface ("Take A Bow") went on to become her biggest hit ever."Forbidden Love" would have been the perfect follow-up.There were so many good songs on that album,it must have been hard to pick the singles.

That's a popular sentiment regarding most of Madonna's 90's work. "Erotica" becomes more brilliant everytime I listen 2 it. and 4 the record, I like the 2005 "Forbidden Love", but I think the 1994 "Forbidden Love" was a stronger song.

Bedtime Stories is her best, tied with Erotica. The songwriting, production, vocal mix, theme, videos...her two overshadowed masterpieces IMO.

I like them both but I have to give it to the 2005 version. I've played it more than the 94 one and it just kicks my ass when I listen to it.
