I always knew that Patrice could play keyboards. But is that really her playing bass on that track? Cause if it is, She is even more talented then I thought. That bass line is one of the funkiest ever!

I Wanna Be Your Lover was written for or about Patrice. Somebody else can clarify, I'm sure. That's all I can offer. lol

About Patrice. I think he wrote "I Feel For You" FOR Patrice.

Anyway I just about lost my shit when I saw Patrice playing on the stage this year at the Grammys. biggrin

Yup. That's Patrice thumpin' and pluckin' on "Forget Me Nots". That bassline is right up there with "Let's Work".

Freddie is a longtime-buddy with who Patrice composed a lot of stuff .
That 1982 album has some classics : Remind Me, the instrumental Number 1

Almost every album of her is worth to check .
The album after Forget Me Nots was her first project which she could finalise at her own home-studio .
She told in an interview that it was a relief not to be bound on the high studio-costs , and therefor be able to explore with her creativity . The final album-result proves that( imo ) .
She launched that album with Feels So Real ( Won't Let Go) . Again another solid bass-line in this track .
Similar to this song is Gett Off ( LOL , not the one from prince )
Two other songs that stand out on this album are the infectious mid-tempo Perfect Love with another superb bass-slap of Freddie , and To Each His Own .

I met Patrice a few years back on a festival . She played as a guest in another artists band . With a few fans we had a great chat and all our vinyl-records signed . We hoped that she would come back again wityh her own band , because she's got such a fine voice . It's a pity that she doesn't use that so much anymore .

As for the Prince-story .
I have a magazine-article at home in which Patrice explains how that story went.
I have to check it at home , but i remember it had something to do with a record-deal or musical collaboration .
In the article is also a picture of them together .
.
.

A buddy of mine did once in a nite-club a spontanious live-mix from If I Was Your Girlfriend to Juicy Fruit(1983) from MTUME .
The rhythms and click-track-loops of both songs are very similar .

Can we please get an explanation as to why we can't post links to video clips now? This is ridiculous moderating.
